I was never a fan of the Eternals and don’t own a single copy of the comic book. I bought the Hasbro Ikaris figure because I like the colorful costume. It reminds of a Mayan or Inca priest or something that can be seen in the artwork at the temple walls of ancient Central American civilizations. The figure is nicely crafted and painted. Strongly recommended for fans of the Eternals comic book. I first saw Ikaris on the text page of some Marvel comic book that I was reading in the mid-1970s. Marvel comics in the 1960s and 70s had text pages containing news of what was happening at Marvel, comments by Stan Lee (Stan’s soap box) and a checklist of current issues on sale. Standing out among chunks of text was a picture of Ikaris. His colorful costume caught my eye. One look at the character and I was able to guess that he was a creation of Jack Kirby. He would not be out of placed in DC comics’ Akopolips which was home to the likes of Darkseid, Mr. Miracle, Big Barda, Kalibak and Steppenwolf. Akopolips was created by artist Jack Kirby after he left Marvel to join DC. The photographs: Close-up of Ikaris. Doesn’t he look like Thor Odinson – ‘Goldilocks’ ? The Hasbro Ikaris with the movie Ikaris. Who is the dull-looking one? The comic book Ikaris in the company of the movie Ikaris and 2 Sersi figures – the movie version and the comic book character. Ikaris and Big Barda of Akopolips. Do you see some similarity in the costumes.
