Don't believe the marketing hype
Expensive and rebranded old tech. Don't get caught by the marketing hype like I did! For a 'medical' grade device, the data collected is ok but way below what you would expect from the subscription price on top of the purchase price. Connectivity is not automatic and you need to manually synch it each day??? Constantly needs calibration and it takes a lot to get used to wearing it. Cheap plastic strap catches your arm hairs and is uncomfortable, for the price they have not got much right with this device. Software is clumsy, charger is outdated and really fiddly to use. Why no wireless charging? Would I reccomend it, no there are better and cheaper options available 😉

Smart health tracking tool!
I've been using the product for around 6 weeks so far and wanted to give it a few days before sharing some balanced feedback given the high price point of the product. As a note to the manufacturer, the product is nicely packaged, however the instruction booklet provided has text that is far too small and very difficult to read as a first time user looking to go through the setup process. An online PDF file was much easier to follow. The product itself is also nicely designed, but the bracelet strap length is a bit too short (for me) and it comes with an older USB-A to micro USB type B charging cable (rather than the newer USB-C technology). A big pain point with my initial setup experience was the registration process. The app itself works fine, directing you to create an account, but after attempting to register my details, the app refused to let me login, stating that the login credentials are invalid. I went around the block several times over trying to login to my new account on day 1, thinking I was going crazy. After multiple failed attempts, I decided to give up, then to realise that Hilo need 24 hours to register your new account in their system. Unfortunately, Hilo don't do a great job of communicating any of this to customers. I came back to it the next day and things progressed to the next stage: CALIBRATION Calibration itself was relatively smooth, but could be better. The first step of the phone recognising the band worked fine, but the process looked like it may breakdown at the second 'cuff' step. The first two attempts of calibrating the band and cuff did not work, but I then thought the cuff may need to inflate and deflate a few times to best figure out how to do it most effectively (i.e. averaging some readings out). The third attempt was successful so don't be alarmed if it doesn't work straight away as one might expect. Following on from the initial stumbling blocks, I have had one or two issues with skin irritation, but that's probably the result of my skin being sensitive. I find that I sometimes need to take a break without the band to help reset things around my wrist (usually overnight). The strap can cause my skin to 'break' and I have experienced mild 'redness' under the sensor. I think this could be addressed with flexibility for a longer strap and potentially a different type of plastic/rubber compound though. The band itself takes multiple BP readings per day (I have around 2100 readings to date) and you are able to access the % of time your readings are in the 'target range'. You can assess readings on a daily, weekly or monthly basis via the app during your initial 30-day free trial. Outside of blood pressure (BP) readings, I can also see Heart Rate metrics and you have the ability to set daily sync reminders, manually log your sleep patterns and medication and to join the Hilo community if desired. Overall, they say high BP is the silent killer and I think the device promotes awareness of underlying health issues pretty well (although I don't really have anything else for comparison). Assuming the data is as accurate as it claims on the manufacturer website, it could end up being worth its weight in gold if it leads to action that helps saves lives. I am still figuring things out and have used this product and related readings for a consultation with my doctor recently. I have had consistent high blood pressure for a number of years and trend analysis has now helped me get the support I think I need to be approved for a trial of BP medication. On the rare occasions that surgery reception staff have allowed me to visit my GP in the past, I've been told my 24-hr BP readings are not considered high enough to justify medication, but this device is telling me otherwise, as I'm averaging 150/89 since using it. The data gives me greater ammunition for a more productive conversation with my doctor to limit the risk of any further issues developing. All things considered, I feel it's a 5 star product with helpful data insights, albeit with a bit of a clunky setup experience.

Nice idea, badly designed cuff and software
The band itself is unobtrusive and light and the app looks professional. The cuff however disconnects during calibration even after multiple attempts, meaning you have to begin the calibration process again and again. I managed to get this working once and never again. The support process is also slow with a chatbot rather than being able to speak to someone. I will be returning this and cannot recommend it. The premise is indeed promising but this needs to be developed properly.

Initial thoughts: uncomfortable strap and disappointing build quality
I’ve only had the device for a few days, so these are just my initial thoughts. The wrist strap is a horrible cheap feeling rubber and uses a traditional watch-strap style. For me it’s very uncomfortable — I can either choose from too tight or the next hole is too loose. This feels like a really poor design decision. A fabric or nylon loop (like most other health trackers use) would have made far more sense and allowed for a better fit. The device initially requires a 4-day calibration period, but my tests keep failing (due to the wrist band), which I suspect is related to the strap fit mentioned above. At this stage it’s mostly just frustrating me — which is probably having the opposite effect on my blood pressure! At first I thought the cuff might be faulty because there was no flashing charging LED. I later realised the device needs to be turned on for the charging light to appear. I can’t think of another piece of tech I own that has to be powered on just to show that it’s charging. Overall, my early impression is that the product feels quite cheap for the price. Both the strap and the cuff feel below the standard I would expect at this cost. I also haven’t been able to find replacement straps thin enough that would fit the device, which makes me suspect this may end up sitting in a drawer sooner rather than later.

Great but could be fantastic!
Its a great product and works well, my 1st gripe is the small wristband sent with it, you should either send it out with a larger band thats possible to be cut down to size as its just rubber, or have two sizes available to purchase, large and small or include the two sizes with the pack. To spend £200 on such an item to then find out when you receive it, that its no good without a bigger strap, that can only be purchased directly from your website at a further £25+ is ridiculous. It should be clearly advertised before purchase and offered with the hilo from the start. I couldn't really afford the hilo on its own but certainly can't afford the add on bracelet after the fact. ** CLARITY ** My 2nd gripe is the sleep function. Its great that it records sleep pattens too as this plays a big part with blood pressure and heart rate. Sadly it’s not correct, not even close! And doesn't sense multiple sleeps, ie (afternoon kip night sleep) it offers you a one time change occasionally but not always. But no way of alteration or addition. It would be better to allow the user to manually adjust/enter sleep as all three together tell a much bigger and better picture together. Otherwise I'm very happy with its progress and the printouts its able to provide so can be given/sent to your GP/specialist As an addition would be nice to be able to store GP details on app so can just click and send directly. Other users say how hard it is to get working, its not there just been impatient, not following the steps and expecting it to work straight out of the box. it takes four days to finally set up as it takes readings and asks you to calibrate it with the cuff. After which all the readings start to emerge on the app. Then it needs calibration once a month. Battery lasts well into the third week, accuracy is really great considering its just sat on your wrist and you feel nothing. My doctor asks for two pressure readings in a day one morning and one evening, but that is just two snap shots taken within a 24hr period, were as the hilo takes 80+ readings throughout the day and night showing how your body changes day/night awake/sleep. Added with steps, sleep pattens and heart rate all combined is a special bit of kit with exceptional readings and a more in depth explanation as to your problem/s Sort your wrist band size out Sort your sleep entry out and you have an exceptional pice of kit. Worthy of its cost.

Excellent Product with Handy Features
I purchased this device as I have a heart condition and having such a continuous monitoring system helps me. The device was very easy to setup and I was able to quickly connect and pair it to my phone. I was pleasantly surprised that this also includes a Bluetooth connected Cuff device as well as I thought I'm only getting the cuff wrist monitor so its definitely value for money at this price point. This is the first time I'm using a Bluetooth based device and It works perfectly without the need for any wires. The first calibrated reading was accurate when I compared it with my existing traditional BP device and subsequent usage has been great so far. It has lot of useful functions like the ability to set reminders to take medication for my peace of mind. There seems to be lot of additional features which I'm yet to explore. The wrist monitor is also very light weight and is black so it blends well with most outfits. All in all, I'm a happy customer and would highly recommend this product!

Very good but you need to understand it
This product is never going to be as accurate as a cuff monitor. The cuff monitor is the gold standard for measuring blood pressure and this device is not meant to equal that. The cuff monitor gives a very accurate blood pressure reading at any moment in time but you have to bear in mind that blood pressure is constantly changing due to a variety of factors. Any reading taken with a cuff monitor is only accurate at that moment and blood pressure could change within 30 minutes or so. Also even without white coat syndrome you cannot be sure that the accurate reading taken hasn’t been affected by how stressed you are by simply going to the GP or setting up the cuff. Also, it is unlikely you are going to get 10 minutes to sit quietly at a GP appointment before taking the reading. This device is designed to take regular blood pressure readings without you being aware 24/7. These readings are averaged out to give a single reading every 2 hours. True enough they will never be as accurate as a cuff monitor but they do show trends in how your blood pressure is changing throughout the day and will highlight large drops or peaks in pressure. In the short time that I have had this device I have discovered that careful calibration is the key to success. What I now do is relax for 10 minutes or so before taking 2 or 3 readings with a cuff monitor and average the readings. I then swap the cuff with the Hilo and again relax for a few minutes before calibrating the bracelet. I then check the calibration figure with the average cuff readings. I find if done carefully, that the two will probably not be the same but are fairly close. If not, repeat the process. For example the calibration reading was about 10mm higher than the average cuff readings. This is fine for me because I now know that the Hilo measurements are going to be reasonably close to the cuff readings and I know that the Hilo readings are likely to be around 10mm too high. The overall trends therefore are likely to be around 10mm higher than the cuff readings and I can allow for that. It is the trends which are important. I would not only use the Hilo but periodically check my blood pressure with a cuff monitor. Also regular calibration by this method is important. With careful calibration, the results from this Hilo device are very useful in showing me how my blood pressure varies throughout the day without me even knowing. I think a lot of the reviews about inaccuracy are probably down to this calibration process not being done carefully enough with cuff checking and often enough. I hope this helps. Update: Another important factor to her in mind is that this device apparently needs to be calibrated FOUR TIMES during the first week. Further Update: I have now been using this device for a few months and I am finding the readings obtained are very close to my regular cuff meter. If this is calibrated 4 times in first week as instructed and recalibrated regularly, the readings are really accurate - surprisingly so. The key to success is careful and regular calibration.,I calibrate mine every 2 weeks.
