1 unit will suffice a couple's or a single person's cooking needs. Families will need more. I bought this since I have a sensitive gut and arrowroot powder is a great alternative to corn flour as a thickening agent. This one does the job well, I have made more than 15 veg cutlets in just one spoonful of arrowroot powder and also used the same qty for thickening pumpkin soup, and chicken curry. The question is how much of it could be adulterated, to which I don't have an opinion.
