Fully featured. Almost perfect! An absolute steal at this price.
If you're weighing up on whether or not to pick one of these 8bitdo controllers up over an Xbox Elite 2 controller, let me argue that - hands down - you'll be surprised how this offering, at half the price is as good as, if not better than the elite controller. The feel of the controller in the hands is premium and it has a very good weight. I'm bewildered that a controller made out of a three or four pieces of (presumably) ABS plastic can feel this good in the hands without a mix of plastic and rubberised material. The controller simply has a slight textured section around its reverse which are very comfortable after a good hour or two of play. Button responsiveness is exceptional - as someone who appreciates the feel of a good keyboard switch, I feel like 8bitdo have really gone to town on making sure that the tactile feedback of the face buttons, triggers and bumpers are the best they can be. Of note: I especially love the feel and sound of the L/R bumpers, they're very clicky and are some of the best I've used. Out the box, I felt that the d-pad was a little "mushy", but after a few rounds of Tetris, I didn't notice any issues - it might be more of a sticking point for people who play more d-pad geared games or are emulating older systems. The utility of the dock being both a charger and 2.4G receiver is a masterstroke, I can't get over how useful this is. A single USB port connects the computer to the dock. The dock contains a standard 8bitdo 2.4G receiver which can be used independently, but when paired with the dock, it offers a very intuitive plug-and-play experience. You just sit the controller on the dock to charge, and take it off when you want to connect. It takes less than 2 seconds for windows to recognise the controller, and you're away. As someone who's had some very inconsitent experiences with the pc xbox wireless reciever (which is still a separate £20 purchase - wait no, it's £32.98 RRP now?! That's *insane*), this was a big tick for the ultimate 2. Two minor disappointments for me: - The gyro options feel a little disappointing, the downloaded "8bitdo ultimate software" allows you to create a profile which enables simulated stick control with a button prompt (I mapped mine to one of the paddles on the back). I understand that if you pair it with a nintendo switch, the gyro controls should work out the box, but I wasn't able to test this - either way, when I gave this a try on some PC games, it seemed nicely responsive. - Aesthetically, both the controller and it's dock being the same solid purple abs plastic make it look a like a rugged block of purple plastic on your desk. It's utilitarian at best, but it has the effect of a blank canvas - that maybe a pop of a contrasting or complimentary colours on the controller or the dock might make this look a little more interesting. Possibly this might be a good project for someone who wants to paint their controller. The designers went to the lengths of including a neat white strip light underneath the dock to indicate that it's charging the controller - the way it creates a gentle reflection to notify you of its operation is a very nice and subtle touch, but the overall look of the controller in the dock lacks that subtlety. It looks like a brick. That being said, the convenience, comfort and utility of this controller has made it see off my xbox elite 2 and become my controller of choice on my desk for the time being. I don't know how they do it, I'll absolutely be coming back to see what they come up with next.

Absolutely fantastic!
This is the best controller I’ve ever used on the pc. Beats the Xbox controllers. My only gripe is that it’s a little small for my hands, but I’ve got used to it quickly. The software isn’t the best, but it does work once you have got to terms with it. The rumble is very good! As are the rgb lights. The build quality is amazing, I was expecting it to be light, but it’s heavy and sturdy! The dock is good quality and has a nice pass through feature for the dongle. Definitely worth every penny. Highly recommend!

Runs on Linux.
As far as hardware goes, this controller is brilliant. I don't personally need a new controller, I have an Xbox Elite 2, but this controller really does compete in build quality. I bought this for my woman for Valentine's. She's really happy with it. I use Linux Nobara, and she uses PikaOS (also Linux). I picked this for Linux compatibility. Now in Steam you have to activate Steam input for generic controllers, and it works great. The not so good: * There is no Linux version of the PC software to update firmware. They can't not know that people use it for Linux. * No matter how many times I try I cannot seem to switch from Dinput to Xinput. It's super infuriating. Maybe I'm doing something wrong. But I had to use Steam input to get it working. It's only Steam-Settings-Controller-[click the toggle] but still: sort out your software 8BitDon't!

Great controller for a great price
Up until now I have been using my PS4 controller with my PC, but I've recently got rid of my PS4 necessitating the need for a replacement. for the price I'm really impressed with this controller. its got a nice weight to it and feels solid. Its also super convenient having the wireless dongle plugged into the charging base. I'm used to having to re-pair my old controller each time I wanted to use it on the PC, now I just pick it up and its instantly connected and fully charged. I had tried to go full gaming PC bro and only use the mouse and keyboard but I've found that most games are more enjoyable with a controller. Looking at online reviews it appears that I won't suffer with the dreaded stick drift that plagued all my PS controllers with the TMR sticks and hall effect triggers and I assume this has made me at least 90% better at gaming. Given that I'm used to PlayStation style controllers, I was initially going to get a PS5 dual sense controller but this was more expensive with worse internal gubbins and I certainly wasn't going to re-mortgage my house to get the ridiculously priced dualsense edge. If, like me you are distinctly average at gaming (or anything in life I guess), you'll struggle to find any negatives. I've not had it that long so can't attest to its longevity but can't see any obvious reason it won't last.

Software breaks at times. Controller is great
Honestly the controller is great. I'm only having issues with the software and somewhat consistently. Controller itself and dock work great. I've had itt for a couple months now and so far there's no wear. Everythings responsive and the plastic doesn't feel cheap which is important since you're handling it for so long. Can't speak for the battery life but lasts at least 3-4 hours. Lighting designs are a nice touch. Back padles are a must for me and it works great. Software has issues opening. My only real gripe with it. But I sometimes have to restart my pc if it doesn't open. Nothing task manager can do to help, it just gives me some foreign text saying "can't open or something" once it opens it works well. But I like to change controls at times and can't do it reliably. Overall a 9/10.

Best controllers I have had.
Very comfortable to hold. Buttons are responsive and feel great and well made. They are fairly small, so not sure people with big hands finds the size good enough. Function wise, it’s great. Easy to map the buttons

Well worth it
Absolutely love this controller! Feels good in the hands, has nice RGB lighting modes. The charging dock is very convenient. Unlike some controller docks where you have to try and line up the controller exactly and press down to get it to slot in and charge, this one is no hassle at all, you can literally just drop it on top of the dock and it will start charging. I'm using Bazzite Linux and it works great, no driver download necessary. If I had to find fault with it, I would say the left and right bumper buttons are a little loud and "clicky", but apart from that, it's a really solid controller.
