Pennington Seed is one of the best out there
I've used Pennington Bermuda seed to overseed and do patch repairs on Bermuda lawns for 30 years. Great stuff, high yield for germination. Make sure to plant for optimal results June to mid August.

If you prepare your soil, this seed is excellent
My pictures tell the whole story, from day 1 to day 30. A lot of these reviews just mention “throwing it down; grass didn't grow”. Ridiculous. If you do the hard work up front, prepare your soil and time the seeding correctly (in S. Texas, late march/early April), you will get fantastic results from this very affordable seed. My soil is solid rock with 2” of clay, that's it. Lots of weeds. I used a sod cutter, removed the top 1”, then tilled it up, added better dirt with organic matter (ie, compost). Then i spread the seed evenly- not too heavy- and dusted the entire area with peat moss. Then, i watered. And watered. And watered. Typically 2x a day for 10 min, usually by hand. Temps were in the mid 70s to mid 80s the entire 30 days. Only 2 days of rain. The area gets 5-8 hours of sun, depending on what section. I watered at 6am and 6pm, a solid soaking. After 10 days, the seeds started to germinate. At week 3, I applied Scott’s Starter fertilizer. And kept watering. Dont walk on the soil! After week 2, the grass exploded. I would estimate about a 80% germination rate, and at only 4 weeks in, a 85% coverage. By week 6, this grass will be completely filled in and ready for its first mow. At day 30, the grass is nearly 2” tall. Bermuda likes to be short, and I plan to keep it at 1”. Will you get weeds? Yes! From your environment. Pick them when small, dont let them dominate. The bermuda will more than dominate if you give it a month or two to establish. Then, in the fall you can apply pre-emergents. You don’t need to buy $100 specialty seed from online, this discount seed is more than good enough. But you have to work up front to get a good result!

I am very disappointed and hope that future buyers read this review
I have never wrote a review before. However these grass seeds were completely dead. I can dig them up and show you a picture. They did not produce any spout whatsoever. I am very disappointed and hope that future buyers read this review. I am a amazon prime member and have been for years. Amazon sponsored this Bermuda seed. I bought two 5lb bags for over seeding purposes. Spread it watered it. Today I checked it again. Zero progress, so I dug a small hole in one of my dead spots. I live by the beach so we have soft not quite sandy soil. I had white seeds zero green ones and zero grass sprouts or growing. Should have listened to the previous reviews.

I did not get a very good germination rate with this seed (southeastern USA)
I did not get a very good germination rate with this seed (southeastern USA). Also, it really stains one's hands and shoes/clothing. Wear grubbies when you sow this should you purchase it.

Great seed!
Great seed!! We had a terrible infestation on chinch bugs and after we got rid of them we are now trying to grow some grass in the areas that were severely effected. I started by trying Scotts E-Z seed and after two weeks there was no result not even a single blade poking up. I switch to the Pennington and after a week the grass was growing. Literally follow the instructions and grass will grow. The side by side picture is after three weeks. The single picture sis after one week.
