I have a garage freezer and the breaker trips occasionally, I bought these to alert me when the breaker kicks out. I tested it out and it alarms as expected, but it isn't really that loud, even when turned up all the way, and I definitely wouldn't hear it upstairs. But at least I will hear it going in and out of the garage, so I expect it will be helpful.
