Fogo Rocket Rod Jet Cast Fishing Rod

I purchased two of these rocketrods for my two youngest. I didn't expect much, or expect them to work very well, but I was pleasantly surprised! They were very easy to use, even for my five year old. For once, I was able to sit back and enjoy the view and not spend hours respooling fishing line, pulling hooks out of trees/clothes/passersby! Very, very nice! Especially used with a really good fish repelent, oh, I mean bait! Buy one. You won't be sorry!

I purchased this for my great nephew as a birthday gift. He had seen it on TV and requested it. It was big hit at the birthday party and he has used it once and had a great time. He is looking forward to this summer and getting a lot more great use out of the Fogo Rocket Rod. I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I am fly fisherman and I guess I am snobbish when it comes to fishing equipment. However, my wife who also fly fishes said she would love to have one, so who knows.

I bought this for Rocket Rod on two separate occasions for two of my nephew's birthdays and they loved it! It was perfect for them. They are both 7 years old and really enjoy fishing. These rocket rods really made fishing fun for them. Although, to me, nothing beats the regular rod and reel, from a kid's standpoint, these things are fantastic. It really does shoot close to 30 feet. I'd recommend this for kids.

I bought two for my sons for Christmas 2007. One of them broke on the first try of cocking the gun!!! I tried to fix it but realized that the mechanism was made of cheap plactic which had snapped in half. The other gun has continued to work fine after several outings, however, we still have not caught any fish with these. Mainly because the bullet which holds the hook has a hard time opening, and then doesnt allow the hook, bait, and weight to sink low enough to attract any fish. Dont waste your money - we pulled out a cheap rod from when I was a kid, and my kids actually preferred that!!!

I was very excited at the concept of such a rod and bought three--one for each of my sons (ages 10-4). however, after trying these, we discovered it was very difficult for even our oldest to set up himself and they kept getting tangled and jammed. we had problems with the hook not releasing when it hit the water too. we took them out on a fishing trip with a group of our friends--I have to give them credit--every child wanted to try this rod, but for the work we had to put into each cast I would honestly just go back to a regular rod. it's a nice novelty item that still needs a little work.

This was a birthday gift for my 6 year old son. It's junk. It doesn't work most of the time and has ruined two fishing trips with grandpa. He was completely excited and prepared to go out and use this new fishing pole. When they struggled to get it to work Pappaw tried to convince him to use his fishing rod. Needless to say the meltdown ensued because he REALLY wanted to use this one. Trust me- if you have kids you know exactly what I'm talking about. Don't waste your money or time on this product.
