I bought this after researching a lot of "hibachi" type grills. This one is much easier to maintain, and more durable for something that I'm going to bring along with me. It's light, portable, easy to clean, and easy to assemble. Since the grill is so close to the heat, things can cook quickly so it doesn't need a whole lot of coals. it's small, but it's large enough for four adults to cook with their own skewers. Also works well for making s'mores.

I rent and live in an apartment so portability is very important. This is easily portable and looks great. It is also well built and has sustained the test of time. I had for almost a year now and it works great. Great value as well and feels like it will last a long time. Size is perfect for cooking for an around 4 people.

I struggled choosing between the go-anywhere grill, Smokey Joe silver, and Smokey Joe gold. After skimming the BBQ forums and countless reviews, I chose the go-anywhere and am happy with it. My criteria when choosing the grill were true portability, meaning it had to be easy to bring around with you. Cleanliness was a must; I didn't want to deal with charcoal dust and drippings in my car trunk. And finally I wanted a good and versatile grill, giving me options to try different methods of grilling. So the Smokey Joe GOLD stuck out initially because I liked the fact that it was so simple and liked the round grill shape, locking lid, and held in the all the gunk cause there was no bottom vent. This is when I read about the issues with the high vents causing the charcoals to not get too hot or even die out. Through the forums, I've read that you can direct the airflow and defeat this problem but I came to the conclusion that I didn't want to deal with the extra work. The Smokey Joe SILVER looked great as well. The biggest issue was cleanliness. I figured I could buy the bag to carry it in which made it the perfect combo. The grill was $30 and the bag was $20 making the total to $50. This led me to look into the go-anywhere because it was the same price. On a side note, the Smokey Joe has a plus with the fact that you can do a DIY and convert it into a mini smoker, just Google "mini wsm." The go-anywhere looked too bulky and too complicated so I was very hesitant. But a lot of BBQ forums praised it and gave it high-remarks equal to the Smokey Joe. I decided to just jump the gun and go with the go-anywhere hope that I would like it. -- Design -- one thing you can appreciate about Weber is that they found balance with form and function. The grill took 10 minutes to assemble because they managed to use the minimal amount of hardware and make it sturdy at the same time. This also makes it easy to repair and clean. -- Performance -- my first use was actually at the beach cooking burgers and dogs for +50 people. I was worried but that thing grill hot and fast (6 patties fit perfect.) You can also do offset grilling. The vents allow plenty of airflow and the vent covers can be adjusted precisely to control temperature. -- Portability -- the grill seals and closes up well, keeping all the ashes, drippings, and other stuff inside and not on your car. It's so small. -- Cleanliness -- I needed to get over the fact that grills will always get messy, I have a small dusting brush to clean it out real quick, because it's a simple design, the clean up isn't too bad. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. I still want to buy a Smokey Joe though. But if I'm taking a grill to the beach, park, tailgate, etc. I will take the go-anywhere for sure.
