Good performances, good "hard boiled" cynical rendition of Marlowe ...
Good performances, good "hard boiled" cynical rendition of Marlowe by Toby Stephens. After first couple of stories the background soundtrack - violin pizzicato - got a bit grating, but otherwise excellent.

Great product but no “Autorip” which is a real nuisance.
Just as I expected content and quality-wise but I had expected it to be sent to my iPad too and was very disappointed to find that this title is NOT eligible for “Autorip” since I was looking forward to listening on holiday. Now I have to find a way to transfer it which I think is possible via my computer but will be time-consuming. Blast!!!

Excellent drama
This is top class, no-expense-spared radio drama. Excellent actors, and accents, atmospheric music, takes you into another world. Repays re-listening - especially as the editing means that the dense plots are hard to keep in mind unless you have a better memory than mine!

Evocative Radio Drama
The BBC continue to produce high calibre radio adaptations of classic texts, with these Chandler productions being no exception. I would say that the tone is more adult than some earlier Hollywood versions and it is all the better for it. The wry humour, the sexual tensions and the gritty violence are evocatively depicted. Stephens performs very well in the lead role.

Blast from the past!
Loved them! Really gritty, well narrated and listened to them all sounding as if was still on the radio.

Love dramatised audio. Only isdue rather strong American accents make it hard to understand but good to replay.

One of the top audio dramatizations of all time. I commute 2 hours and couldn't wait to get back in the car to listen, more. Toby Stephens as Philip Marlowe is perfect. The recordings are crystal clear and the voice acting is outstanding. The scripts are great in that you never get lost as to where the characters are and who is talking. These are among rare re-listening audios like Hitchiker's Guide or World War Z.

Englische BBC-Produktion, hierzu muss man nichts weiter sagen. Atmosphärisch sehr gut, chandleresk trocken und cool, hard-boiled. Haben mir sehr gut gefallen.

Just gotta say it was a glorious day when this arrived for me in the mail. BBC Dramatizations of some of my favorite novels. Chandler's moodiness and wit are still present in the recordings, the cast seem genuinely great. The effects are pretty good as well The case for the cds was a great little plastic case (so you needn't worry about cracked jewel cases). Overall my package was in great condition and well worth the money. If you're a fan of classic hardboiled noir (or perhaps thinking of dipping your toe into it for the first time) I would highly recommend this series of novels

Love these shows. The BBC does them like no other. Their Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot and now Philip Marlowe are all A list productions. Will enjoy over and over.
