Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Absolutely fascinating - I've been listening to Spalders for a few years chat away about the technical aspect of MotoGP. I'm not a technie myself but find the technology behind MotoGP bikes fascinating. If you are at all interested in this side of MotoGP buy the book. He explains some difficult subjects really well and the use of photography and illustrations helps enormously. It's a really good read and also gives some background to the control tyre situation we now have. Also good that it's in easy to read sections. I strangely started at the front and then read some of the technical sections I was interested in (slipper clutches). A great buy and a great price for such a good book. Review: Excellent for deepening and updating your technical knowledge of how MotoGP bikes work - Having got more interested in the technical side of MotoGP through BT Sport's Michael Laverty giving insights into the workings of the bikes and Julian Ryder's Twitter recommendation for this book, got this for Christmas to read in time for the upcoming MotoGP season. It is a very well presented book, with good photos, diagrams, loads of insights and, of course, stacks of geeky technical information, which for me was a real eye-opener. I started to read from the front of the book but quickly decided to read Fundamentals onwards first and then return to the specifics for each manufacturer later!

'Moto' Ergo Sum
I was lucky enough to have been given the First Edition of MotoGP Technology as a gift, and was absorbed by the '990cc/Modern' MotoGP years. Having read, and returned to, that volume many times I placed a pre-order just as soon as a Second Edition was announced. I'm entirely absorbed again, finding fresh insight, analysis and explanation. It's a credit to Neil Spalding that, what can be such a complex and exhausting area of technology, can be given such vivid, yet crisp explanations. The images (especially when drawing attention to particular details) and articles are a fantastic read. Some ground is obviously re-tread, as the depth of information springs from the start of, and now bridges the completed, '990cc' era. There's more than enough fresh content though to justify a Second Edition.

Simply amazing
A fantastic book for everybody who loves the two-wheels motorsport. It stops describing the MotoGp environment before the entering of the CRT and Open class, the seamless gearshift and the 1000cc engines. So I hope there will be a new edition before the start of the new era of MotoGP where the main electronic devices will be the same for every team. Anyway it is well-written, it contains fantastic and interesting photos since the start of the 4-strokes class. A complete and real illustration of the MotoGp technical scene. Heartfelt thanks to the seller: fast, fair and honest!

Beautiful, detailed publication.
If you are interested in what makes MotoGP tick you need this book. Quite apart from all the fantastic pictures the book is packed full of detailed technical information. Heaven for motorcycle racing enthusiasts and participants alike. I am a builder and racer of Classic Motorcycles and a minor collector and rider of interesting Ducatis. I attend the MotoGP at Phillip Island every year and I love this book. Thank you Neil Spalding.

Very Informative
As a MotoGP fan and a fan of eurosport tv's coverage of MotoGP Neil Spalding's background knowledge that he contribultes to the commentry is second to none. A very interesting and technical book into the background to what goes on with a motogp bike, and the technical demands required to race at the top level of motorcycle engineering.

A great technical insight into MotoGP
Neil Spalding provides his expert technical insight into the technology of MotoGP racing , covering the different manufacturers in detail and the evolution of the technology from the early 990cc bikes to the first years of the 800 cc bikes. Hopefully there will be a new volume soon covering the end of the 800's and the progression onto the current 1000 cc bikes. Certainly a must for the technical fan of bike racing and hopefully with the change in MotoGP TV coverage in the UK for the 2014 season we will still be able to hear Neil's dulcet tones on some broadcast channel somewhere.

A quality product.
As I write this the 2019 finished a few days ago. It did so with the sadness of Jorge's departure and the amazing partnership that is now 93 + 73 in the Honda garage. I ordered this book on Saturday and it arrived today, 4 days later, as promised. My first impression is that it is a superb product. It just feels and looks SO good. I haven't started to really get into yet but the sheer quality speaks for itself. To just make my day the first page I opened had a picture of a rider on red bike, number 99! I would say this is definitely a must for all bike lovers and for all MotoGP lovers.

MotoGP Technology 2nd Edition After reading some of the reviews for the 1st edition, I tried to keep an open perspective on the second edition which was published in 2010. There are still a few spelling mistakes, but the 2nd edition certainly does not feel rushed. While some of the sections aren't as fleshed out as others, for instance the coverage on Ducati, Honda, and Yamaha is significantly more in-depth than Ducati's stressed carbon airbox frame design for the GP09 bike. That said, MotoGP Technology 2nd Edition updates the first edition all the way to the end of the 2009 MotoGP season. The book is a chock full of technical details, a de facto engineer/gearhead's wet dream on MotoGP technology. Although the reader has to understand that this is still going to be a 30,000 feet overview of MotoGP technology. A lot of the tricks and actual tech is proprietary or closely guarded by the factory teams to remain competitive, and rightfully so. However, Spaulding has gained access to a lot of the historical information and goes into great detail on the racing teams and what they found to work or not work throughout the different seasons. Tuning into the races gives you an idea of how each rider fares in the season, but there is a lot more going on behind the paddock area. Spaulding did a fantastic job explaining the teams' exploration into techniques or designs to address problems during the races and the outcomes. In essence, a lot of the teams simply deploy multiple bikes with different configurations in an attempt to find the perfect solution. Monkey wrenches in the form of new regulations and control items (like Bridgestone tires) are regular occurrences and this forces the teams to go back to the drawing boards - but this gives the fans a lot to look forward to in each race. With MotoGP bikes, lack of horsepower isn't as big of a problem as the chassis/suspension and tire setups, although more power in the straights wouldn't hurt as shown by Pedrosa's recent victory in Estoril in 2011 where he overtook Lorenzo and the gap just kept increasing. I highly recommend this book because it contains a great deal of information. It took me a few weeks to finish the book because I didn't want to skim past anything important. Overall: 5/5 stars. Must buy if you're into motorcycles, MotoGP, a gearhead, or any combination of the above!

This is one great source of fascinating info about motorcycle design.Very well written, beautiful clear pictures.A bit pricey, considering it was about $50 a few years ago from England, but hey,I still bought it didn't I?A great resource, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys the Kevin Cameron style of explaining motorcycle development.Neil Spalding is as good or better in my opinion.
