Reflecta Super 8 - film scanner

UPDATE 2020. Got new pc and tried to download the software. No longer avaiIable on Reflector website. You need this for the scanner to work properly. You may be able to find the program on a disc on ebay amazon etc. Scans films in Full HD. Without the added cost after scanning film companies. Quality of transfare is very good. I scanned two horror films I made some years ago. I projected the on DVD. The look great. Bright, Clear colourful picture. If you have lots of s8 films you want to scan or you still make s8 films as I do. Then this is a good investment. Recommended A++

Absolutely superb results from scanning super 8mm film. I found it will work extremely well across a wide range of films. Its automatic settings are well balanced for Kodachrome K40, but it will also work extremely well with films with an ASA rating of 5 - 100D using manual settings on the supplied Cyberview S8 software. I found the quality of the scan could be considerably enhanced in post production work by using CyberLink's Director 5 suite, using Power Director 15 for editing the film and Color Director 5 for colour grading, correction and enhancing to true theatre colour. Audio Director 6 in the same suite enables sound to be easily added to the film. I find the scanned Super8mm film can be easily edited into other avi, AVCHD 1080 50I and 50p files. Overall the super 8mm scanner offers excellent results and is extremely good value for money. Bill Wood

very simple to use. Downside If you accidently close the window whilest processing you loose what has been processed i was unable to recover .Very little information or advice on this issue or a warning.. I may be doing something wrong.

Posseggo circa 30 bobine super 8 mute a cui tengo molto ma che non potevo più visionare, non possedendo un proiettore. Dopo vari tentativi di acquisizione (con videocamera analogica poi digitale) mi era chiaro che l'unico miglioramento possibile sarebbe stato lo scanner, quindi non ho avuto troppi dubbi prima di acquistare il Reflecta. L'idea in sè è ottima, ma la realizzazione solo sufficiente, ecco perché do solo tre stelle: i materiali non sono di alta qualità, ci sono zone di passaggio della pellicola che rischiano di rigarla, ci sono dei problemi col riavvolgimento... Per una panoramica completa ed obiettiva, consiglio di leggere questo thread: [...] Mi sento di rimarcare quanto già scritto nella guida, dato che per me è stato una fonte di grattacapi: lo scanner va collegato solo a una porta USB alimentata, oppure (come sto facendo io) a un hub autoalimentato. Fatte tutte queste premesse, se siete convinti di spender comunque una cifra alta, i risultati sono a mio avviso molto buoni, anche perché avendo a disposizione i singoli fotogrammi le possibilità di editing sono tantissime e il risultato finale vi appagherà.

Producto probado. Se trata de una capturadora de fotogramas que funciona realizando la captura mediante fotografía (no escáner) con una "webcam" interna. El mayor problema que tiene es en software. Problemas en la versión que trae la maquina y mayores en la actualización. Con la actualización avisa de película atascada/pegada cada 3 fotogramas, siendo imposible la captura en un espacio de tiempo aceptable y automático. También la captura , si fuese correcta es muy lenta, pero esto es mas lógico porque va fotograma por fotograma. Los colores resultantes son muy apagados y nada que ver con el original. La resolución también es falsa ya que captura recortando el fotograma y no entero con lo que la resolución es bastante inferior. La calidad de los materiales deja mucho que desear. Los ejes de los carretes tienen una holgura inadmisible. El precio de venta me parece una barbaridad para el resultado que da. Producto no recomendable actualmente. Amazon como siempre, un 10 en su gestión en la devolución.

Voilà un matériel épatant. Agréable surprise quant au résultat qui a dépassé mes espérances, avec une numérisation meilleure que celle obtenue chez un spécialiste de transfert super 8 pour l'un de mes films. Celui-ci m'a d'ailleurs servi de référence pour me faire une idée. Les prises de vues, lorsqu’elles sont nettes et bien exposées, sont numérisées avec une incroyable fidélité. Si certaines de mes bobines ont nécessité un nettoyage avant numérisation, elles ont toutes été numérisées à la perfection. Attention, le PC en charge du travail doit être à la hauteur. 4Go de mémoire vive sont recommandé par le constructeur, toutefois 8 Go seront les bienvenus. Et il faut s'armer de patience car le transfert est vraiment très long.

Ich habe das Gerät trotz der vielen negativen Meinungen dazu erworben um einige Filmrollen zu digitalisieren. Der erste Eindruck war ernüchternd. Das Gerät wirkt wirklich billig, viel Plastik, die Transport- und Filmrollen wackeln stark. Trotzdem frohen Mutes losgelegt. Software installiert, Gerät angeschlossen und Filmrolle eingelegt. Bis dahin kein Problem. Die ersten 2m liefen gut durch, und dann ging es los. Unschöne Geräusche beim Filmdurchlauf mit anschliessenden Filmriss. Und das mehrfach, mit verschiedenen Filmen. Die Filme werden nicht digitalisiert sondern zerstört. Es ist mir nicht gelungen auch nur 1 Rolle problemlos durchzujagen. Die Ursache scheint zu sein, dass der Film von der ersten Zahnscheibe, die die Perforierung greift und vorantreibt, abrutscht. Der Film geht leicht hoch, die Scheibe dreht weiter und schlitz die Perforierung auf. Dann klemmt der gesamte Film, die untere Rolle zieht und der Film reist. Als Techniker werde ich es mir nicht nehmen lassen das Gerät selbst umzubauen damit es funktioniert. Da die optische Komponente, also Beleuchtung und Kamera recht vernünftig zu sein scheinen macht das Zurückgeben keinen Sinn, da es ja auch keine Alternative auf dem Markt gibt. Auch deshalb kann es sich der Hersteller wohl erlauben ein mechanisch so unausgereiftes Produkt zu einem solch unverschämten Preis zu verkaufen. Ich kann wirklich nur abraten solch ein Gerät zu erwerben. Einer der Sterne gebührt übrigens Amazon für die schnelle und zuverlässige Lieferung.

Tiene una muy buena calidad de digitalización, el software de manejo es muy escaso y las instrucciones no son claras, hay errores que el software no explica. Es ideal para la digitalización domestica de S8, se hecha de menos que no admita 8mm. Esperemos que Reflecta se anime, hay muchas películas de 8 mm esperando.
