Excellent OBD2 Engine Scanner
I bought this scanner to trace and repair a fault on my son's car that had a permanently lit engine management light. I've never used one before so I can't compare it with any others. The Scanner is good quality and comes with all the leads that you need and is easy to use. The fact that I was able to diagnose and repair the fault, and I was able to turn off the management light means that with one use the scanner it has paid for itself. Well worth the money. I needed to contact nexpeak regarding installing the drivers. Support was excellent. The driver that wouldn't install was for windows XP so not needed. Things that I think could be improved. The instructions are written by someone who's first language isn't English and can be difficult to follow, but any DIYer will quickly get the hang of it. The instructions should have a glossary of terms at the begining, for example DTC-diagnostic trouble codes, DLC,MIL,I/M etc. I kept having to search to see what they meant. It would be better if you didn't need to make a note of the fault codes and go back into a different screen to see the definition. Overall I'm very pleased I bought the scanner. Very highly recommended.

Great piece of kit
This is my first Scanner/Code Reader and very impressed. I did lots of searching before buying and in this price bracket, seemed to get very good reviews overall. Sturdy, good sized screen, colour screen, long connecting lead (important), lots of functions and crisp buttons. Easy to use but written instructions could perhaps be a little better. Although once you've got the hang of it, it is really easy to use Works straight out of the box. Has lots of other functions which I am yet to explore This has saved me hundreds of pounds rather than going to a garage to get them to check any fault codes. I rate myself as a good car diy'er. Scan the codes with this reader. Go online to car forums or youtube and find the most likely things which would cause the error code and nine out of ten times you can fix it yourself for very little money. At worst, you'll know what the problem is when you talk to your garage mechanic. Really good and pretty essential for any modern car.

Good bit of kit for the DIY Mechanic
When it arrived i opened it up and briefly scanned through the instructions, i noticed that the language (English) was OK but not brilliant, maybe a translating issue? but it all made sense, the reader appears to be of good quality and for the size it is very light. I followed the instructions to update it, but it was already loaded with the latest update, bonus. plugged into my ford focus and went through the instruction manual trying all the different options. i do have a fault of which i know about which i presume is something to do with the hole in the exhaust(replacement in the shed awaiting my attention ). It gave me the fault code and after selecting my manufacturer it came back as unrecognised or something similar. i'm a bit disappointed as the ford focus is not what you call a rare car over here in the UK. But on the whole this may be down to my lack of experience with these type of machines. As a self taught mechanic, i found that the device was easy to navigate and simple enough to use, i managed to clear my fault code after reading all the instructions and actually doing it on the device as i went. Once i have used it a few more times i'm sure my knowledge of my car will greatly improve. 4 out of 5 only due to not recognising the code (but that could just be me) Highly recommended for the average user and mechanics alike.

Works perfectly with my own car
A few months ago I spent over £50 on my Honda getting it checked the engine light. So I decided to buy this OBDII Fault Code Reader Tool and now I can read the code myself, saved me so much of money. Now I can just go myself to the garage and tell them what is wrong with my car. Was easier to use then I expected. I found the OBD2 diagnostic socket just where the INTEY manual said it would be. Plugged it in. I turned on the car and the Reader booted up a simple menu. I just read the code and this awesome Code Reader told me in really easy English what the problem was. Now I know what’s the problem with my car, why my dashboard looked like a l Christmas tree with all the warning lights on. It helps me to recognize the issue’s and from now on, if it’s only a minor problem maybe I can fix it myself, checking on Youtube how to deal with the situation, or Even if I have to take it to someone else to repair, I will know ahead of time the error my car is having. I would definitely recommend this product for anyone needing to pull codes when that check engine lights comes on. Save yourself some money! Get the parts yourself and maybe even do the labour on your own if you're able to!

Poor vehicle compatibility info.
I bought this reader to check for a intermittent fault on my car, namely an environmental fault. I have a Citroen C4 Grand picasso MK2 2015. I read the reviews before purchasing and also those of other units. I was sceptical though as they all push that they are suitable for cars from Asia and USA. Mainly because they are mostly manufactured in China. So back to the unit. It looks well built and I was impressed by the quality and the fact it's in a case. However the instructions leave much to be desired. I am a qualified engineer and can logically fix most things and even manage to find the eOBD socket. Unit plugged in and ignition on. Checking for faults the unit straight away failed to recognise some tests. Namely O2, EVAP and a basic VIN check to name a few. It would only perform a few basic checks I could have done with my £10 Bluetooth unit. On checking the literature this only checks models up to 2013 so up to mk1. I sent a message to the company on their contact info but no reply. So I asked the community. Wish I hadn't bothered. Yes I am aware it's an industry standard OBD port! And yes it works but not all the functions can be scanned. So it's going back and I've bought one dedicated to my vehicle.

I bought this one after climbing the ladder from $12 Bluetooth phone device, then spent $10 more for cheap one with a screen (it went back), then $10 more for a better one that did not do the job (it went back too). Then a few bucks more and WOW this is worth it. This is the sweet spot. LED green, yellow and red readouts give immediate status of the car. I really really appreciate the immediate feedback I cannot misinterpret. Thanks. Under the LED readout, a large bright screen gives quick access the the details of the system diagnostics. Very, very happy that this unit connected with my Chyrsler Pacifica the others could not read and my Chevy Venture which this unit correctly and easily diagnosed. The other units gave me confusing readouts for my van that caused me to waste time and money. Not with this Nexpeak NX501. This unit was way bigger and way better than all my previous money and time wasting experiments. This is a large unit that feels solid, substantial and heavy duty. Comes with a very nice canvas zipper case that keeps the unit, connection cord and mini-USB (for connection to computer for updating and printout if desired). After connecting and installing software downloaded from Nexpeak website I confirmed that the unit I received was up to date. Nice. I am happy. This is not one of those little cheap little calculator size units, this one is maybe the size of an average womans shoe, but the construction, bright screeen, sophisticated electronics and ease of operation is GREAT! I used this before I even read the manual and had no trouble. To read the manual completely I will have to learn at least three or four more languages...but till I do...I am happy and getting all the results I need to confirm that my Pacifica is ready for its annual checkup and the Van needs some fixing. That's why I am keeping this one and happy I sent the cheaper units back. My advice is start with this one...I don't think ordinary people like me could need anything more.

Very nice tool to have. When your check engine light comes on, it's nice to have a code reader in your toolbox instead of driving all over town to find an AutoZone or O'Reilly's to have them read the codes for you. One thing I did learn after buying this and using it myself. If you plug it in and the screen stays black, check your cigarette lighter fuse. Apparently that can cause the plug that the OBDII fits into not to have power. I almost sent this back, until I realized it wasn't the machine that was bad, but a cigarette lighter fuse burned out causing the OBDII not to come on. Anyway, the OM126P gives you all the codes that can cause problems with your vehicle and shows whether the part is already gone or it's pending. Still learning what all it can do and what each screen means. This also gives you diagnostics and graphs out feedback. Worth the money, especially on older model cars (with computers) like mine that have a check engine light pop up at least once or twice a year (it seems). OM126P will save me money in the long run, because I will be able to diagnose and repair my car without having to take it to a professional mechanic. With this you can find the codes, research what is causing them and if you're so inclined, fix the problem yourself. I really like that this reader gives a description of the code and not just the code itself. For anybody that likes fixing their own stuff, OM126P is a must have for your toolbox.
