Schwarzwald Dry Gin, 50 cl

This is a very curious Gin! A little pricey for me especially as its 50cl not the usual 70cl but its not stopping me come back for more! The taste from start to finish is complex, multi faceted and exquisite all at the same time! Best with a good plain tonic eg FT.

This is a top quality hin thay never disappoints.

We have been drinking this Monkey 47 for some years now. It’s strong (as in the name it’s 47%), has a good flavour, not cheap but generally you get what you pay for in my opinion and amazon price is very good.

I have had many gins in my time, and this is by far the most premium and smoothest gin that's at a price point that an average person can afford. This is my go-to gin for a gift! It has never disappointed!! It is amazing on ice, with a plain tonic, and especially in a martini!. You cannot go wrong with this. Arrived in tact and as described.

I read so many reviews saying that it was "the best" and I was very sceptical of such claims...but I immediately understood why after I tried it. Hard to believe it's 47% ABV because it's so smooth and tasty. The word "best" should not be used lightly, but Monkey 47 fully deserves the title. My friend, who is a bartender in Asia, hasn't heard of this particular gin before but she got hooked immediately after trying it. It has a very complex taste - my friend joked that the bottle looks like a medicine bottle and it tastes like one too because it's so herbal - so it's best enjoyed with just tonic water and a slice of orange or lime. Don't waste it in other cocktails, or its complex flavour would get lost in the drink.

In my time, I have tried a lot of gin. I think that this might just be the best. Yes, it's expensive. Your bottle will be 50cl, not the standard 75cl or 100cl. But it's sensational. I am hopeless at describing flavours, so you can read what the bottle says about how it tastes. But it doesn't have the harsh notes that some (cheaper) gins can have. And you can sort of taste that it's not English, but is sort of English. Try it - you'll see what I mean This is very much a gin for best. Don't leave it lying around or it will go. Faster than you can imagine. Treat yourself

If, like my wife, you like the odd glass of gin before breakfast, you'll love Monkey 47 Schwarzwald Dry Gin from those crazy folks in the black forest. She swears by it; she tells me it sets her up nicely for the day ahead. Personally, I cant stand the stuff; I'm a Special Brew kind of guy myself so I'm writing this review on her behalf. One thing I will say that might help you once you've purchased a bottle of this most wonderful of gin's; don't look to drink the whole bottle in one session. It will make you poorly, it will give you a mahoooooosive headache and you might feel the need to lay on the sofa all day complaining etc. You have been warned...

I’d been meaning to try this gin for a while after recommendation from a local bar owner. There are a lot of premium gins on the market these days, however this one has a well deserved price tag. Very nice gin, goes well with orange (although I imagine most citrus peels work) garnish and a non flavoured tonic (you don’t need or want anything else flavour wise). Definitely worth a purchase and one to share with only a special few!
