Caldwell Scope Ring Alignment and Lapping Kits, 1"-34mm, for Scope Mounting and Gunsmithing

You go out and spend BIG money on a scope and rings. You mount the rings on your rifle, then mount the scope. On range day, that big red barn, that you can't hit the side of, is laughing at you. So, if you only have one rifle and one scope, take them to a gunsmith and have them all matched to each other (rifle, rings and scope). Or, if you are like me, and are constantly trying out new scopes and optics it's time to step up to the Wheeler "scope ring alignment" tool set. Place your rifle in a secure gun vise, make sure the rails are secure and tight. Mount the rings to the recommend torque, caps off. Place the appropriate alignment bar in the rings, with lapping compound. Install the caps loosely and then slowly start tightening the cap screws, following the recommend tightening sequence. Stay shy of tightening them all the way down, you need the alignment tool to be able to slide and twist without binding. Follow the Wheeler "lapping procedure" and every10-15 passes of the tools remove the caps, wipe the rings and check the wear pattern. If everything looks even, you're done, if not, replace the caps and do another 10-15 passes. You may have to repeat this process a few times. Once you have a consistent wear pattern you are good to go. make sure to clean off all lapping compound, then clean the rings a few more times just to be sure. Mount and level your scope to fit your eye relief, then tighten/torque the caps to the recommended specs, usually no more than 18 INCH pounds, not FOOT pounds. Yes, this is a little bit of work, you could pay that gunsmith, OR, take that money that you would have spent with them and invest in the alignment tool set and be able to do this for your friends, and make some money doing it yourself. I use the money I make from doing these alignments to purchase more gunsmithing tools.

People if you love rifles and tactical. This is the product for you. If you want to install your tactical scope or your hunting scope. This will do the job as a professional. This will make your scope straight level and torque when you buy the kit. This one is 34mm. But you have the one inch or 30mm. People this is what you have to do to your scope. To have accuracy for long distance and I really recommend it thanks to this product I have installed my gear proper and I'm capable of shooting long distance with no problem every little thing matters. I hope this product would do the job for you it did it for me.

Don't consider mounting a scope without these. If you think your super deluxe rings and mount are aligned with your action, think again!

I purchased this so I could properly mount my Vortex Razor HD . my shot group after zero was covered by a dime at 100 yards off the bench. Then a quarter at 200 . This was worth every penny . I have now used it on all of my rifles and it has improved shot groups .

Great tool for lapping in scope rings. These work on centering your rings by making rings concentric with each other. Easy to use. With this said most precision rings don't need lapping.

This is a nice kit to lap 34mm rings. I wish it came in a hard case, but it comes in simple cardboard packaging. Also, in addition to what you see in the product picture/description, the kit DOES come with the Wheeler power adapter for your drill.
