Excellent product! Works very well just make sure you use some cooking spray every 2-3 uses so falafel slides out easy. This product does come apart for easy cleaning. Includes a bamboo scoop to help with loading.

I had Falafel once long ago and thought it was really tasty, so when I ran across this I thought I’d give it a try. The hardest part turned out to be finding dried chickpeas. I finally found them on Amazon, of course! So I mixed the ingredients and had to make a choice between deep fry, pan fry, or bake. I chose to bake, so got my baking pan out and grabbed the falafel scoop. Using the scoop is easy; you pull back the pin on the handle, then use it just like an ice cream scoop. Since I was baking, I flattened out the mixture against the bottom of the scoop, then when I released the pin, the backplate pushed the falafel neatly onto my baking pan. I had something that looked like a hockey puck. (if you are frying, make the bottom of the falafel more rounded instead of flat). The scooping and shaping took no more than 5 minutes for the entire batch, including the first few slow ones as I learned. A few notes on the recipe you choose (if you don’t already have a family favorite) – look for one that recommends a long soaking period for the chickpeas. Mine recommended 8-12 hours, and it was not enough. Also, my falafel didn’t rise – my recipe called for baking soda, but I found a more authentic recipe that called for baking powder. So next time that’s what I will use; but for now, I have a lot of falafels to eat! I highly recommend this tool; it is incredibly easy to use, I never had to stop to maintain or clean it. Finding a recipe will be your challenge!

I make falafel all the time and this scoop has honestly changed the game for me. It’s way easier than the old method my mom used growing up. No more messy hands, uneven shapes, or awkward guessing with a spoon. The stainless steel scoop is solid and well-made, and the hole in the center helps the falafel slide out smoothly without falling apart. It makes perfectly shaped, uniform patties every time, which not only helps them cook evenly but makes them look way better. The little spatula it comes with is also super handy for getting them into the pan without the usual finger acrobatics. If you’re like me and make falafel regularly, this is 100% worth having in your kitchen. It’s simple, fast, and way less frustrating than the old school way. Sorry mom!

This is a fairly well designed product. The falafel maker is held together by a single threaded pin which also is used to push the formed falafel out of the press. When the pin is removed, the falafel press can be broken down into five components: the outer body of the scoop, the movable extractor, the center guide rod, a spring, and the pin. All parts appear to be stainless. The design appears to be intended to be cleaned easily, and for the most part that is true. The handle of the scoop is sealed on one side as is the center guide rod, making cleaning those pieces a little challenging, but it's not bad. There is also a tiny bit of a lip where the movable extractor is welded together. Overall, it appears much better designed for cleaning than most home kitchen smallwares. Reassembly is easy, but you need to make sure that the opening slot on the center guide rod is lined up with the slot on the outer handle. When the pin is screwed in, only the extractor is threaded, but the threads of the pin extend into the slot center unthreaded guide rod. This may not make much sense if you don't have the scoop in front of you, but if you struggle to reassemble it, I'd suggest making sure those parts are lined up.

I really like this falafel scoop maker, it makes the process super simple and efficient. I hadn't used the donut-style design before, but I love how it ensures an even crisp around the entire falafel with less risk of a soggy center. It also helps create consistently sized falafel balls every time, which is a nice bonus. The included wooden spatula is a great addition for smoothing and shaping as you go. Using it is straightforward, just pull back the handle, scoop the desired amount, tap it down, and release for perfectly formed falafel. Also, if you unscrew the push bar, the whole thing comes apart for very easy deep cleaning when needed, which is very convenient. Highly recommended!
