Great Read!
📘 Review: The Everything Store by Brad Stone ⭐ Rating: 4.5 / 5 If you’re even slightly curious about how a scrappy online bookstore turned into one of the most powerful companies on the planet, this book is wildly worth your time. 🚀 What the Book Is About This is the inside story of Amazon’s rise — from a garage startup to a company that reshaped shopping, tech, logistics, publishing, and even how we think about customers. It’s not written like a boring corporate biography. It reads like a high-stakes drama full of big bets, brutal decisions, and relentless ambition. At the center of it all is Jeff Bezos — portrayed not as a simple hero or villain, but as a hyper-intense, long-term-obsessed leader who was willing to be misunderstood for years to win decades later 💡 What Makes It So Good 1️⃣ The “Customer Obsession” Mindset You really see how Amazon’s famous principles weren’t just posters on a wall. The idea that customers come first — even before profits drove decisions that looked crazy at the time but genius later. 2️⃣ The Ruthless Side of Innovation The book doesn’t sugarcoat things. Amazon’s culture comes across as: • extremely demanding • data-obsessed • emotionally tough • not for everyone It shows the human cost behind building a giant. 3️⃣ Long-Term Thinking on Another Level Quarterly losses didn’t scare Bezos. He played a 10–20 year game while competitors played 2–3 year games. That mindset shift alone is worth the read if you’re into business or leadership. 4️⃣ Fascinating Business Battles The fights with: • publishers • Walmart & big retailers • early investors • internal leaders feel like strategic chess matches 🧠 Who Should Read This? You’ll love this book if you are into: • Startups & entrepreneurship • Business strategy • Leadership psychology • Tech industry history • Understanding how big companies really work behind the scenes It’s especially eye-opening if you work in e-commerce or corporate environments — you’ll start recognizing Amazon-style thinking everywhere ⚖️ Any Downsides? • It leans heavily toward the business side, not personal life details • Some sections get dense with operational details • You may finish it both impressed and slightly intimidated 🎯 Final Take The Everything Store isn’t just a company story. It’s about vision, obsession, patience, and the cost of building something massive. You come away realizing: Amazon didn’t happen by accident. It was engineered — deliberately, aggressively, and over decades. If you like books that make you think differently about success and scale, this one sticks with you long after you finish.

Apart from being very successful, Amazon has realised the dreams of customers to order & have delivered the objects of their choice within a few days. This book gives the history of Amazon & Bezoes admirably.

Flow with the Amazon in this book!
Finally, I completed reading this book and I must say that the author has followed the Amazon journey very deeply. I cannot say that the book was entirely focused upon Jeff Bezos and the Amazon company, but it gives you insights about the important changes that took places in the dot com era. It clearly shows the effects of ignoring innovation. Amazon fought really hard during the tough years of depression and you can thank to Jeff's long sight vision for this accomplishment. From Amazon, we can understand the importance of caring about your customers in true sense. Throughout Amazon's journey, they are having single motto of giving the best prices and experience to their customers. And, in order to achieve this, they can fight the world. One of the important lesson that I learnt was that you create your own destiny. Jeff's biological father was not successful in life but on the other hand Jeff has excelled amazingly in his field. So, we should never blame our genes or the family for what we are. Amazon started right from the Garage with 3-4 people and rose to multi billion business. A lot can be learnt from Jeff's personality too. He is able to balance his personal and professional life perfectly. And, in his life, his mother and wife has been supportive, always. Vocab is used nicely through the book and I was able to learn a lot of new words for sure. This is a true masterpiece for all. thanks!

Awesome read!!
The time when someone says “Amazon”,the first thing that comes to our mind is the online retail giant situated in Seattle rather than the river basin of South America.Amazon has been scaling new heights everyday, with the resemblence that its CEO Jeff Bezos becomes the richest man on earth.Amazon is the biggest online retail company in the world, and reading a book about its journey just drives more excitement. Why you should read it:This book is more for business minded people trying to understand how to scale a company, how to decide whether or not to enter new business and understanding online retail in depth. But the most unique feature of amazon company is its focus on customer satisfaction. The book also tells the past and present life of Jeff Bezos to understand how the values of a leader influences the culture of a company. Summary:The following are the points/procedures which I felt were unique and decisive in Amazon’s journey. 1).Amazon follows a flywheel business model:It believes that if one chain of business gets accelerated, the whole business gets accelerated. For example:In earlier days,Amazon focused on accelerating the divisions of distribution and logistics and thus now its paying off by increase in number of sales. 2).Amazon,very smartly understands how an expert in that domain does business(like apparel or jewellery) and then tries to Amazoned (low cost, high selection) it for a lower price. 3).The most striking feature of Amazon culture is its Focus on Customer needs, desires, problems, etc. In simple words, Amazon is obsessed about customers and this culture has been driven by its humble CEO Jeff Bezos. 4).Amazon is always in the hunt to identify new sectors for disruption like the personal voice assistant Amazon Echo or its new video streaming business Amazon Prime Video, this gives Amazon an edge over other traditional companies. 5).The real secret to Amazon’s success is its ability to play for the long term.Amazon assures its investors that in the long term,it plans to be industry leader and thus will be in a dominant position to acquire profits. 6).Amazon also takes advantage of its position to leverage better deals from the manufacturers. This obviously gives them the edge over other retailers to acquire more customers and hence, drive more sales. Conclusion:Amazon is a innovative company which focuses on customer satisfaction and disrupting old sectors with technology, and people believe that it would be the first trillion dollar valued company.Reading this book will help you understand the whole business processes of amazon and the importance of long term in business world.

Amazing, surprising, inspiring!
If you ever wanted to know how a small Software Engineer made it to become the founder and CEO of the worlds largest E-Commerce company, you really should buy and read this book. Well written book about Jeff Bezos which is a looking back in time. It narrates in a refreshing, at times funny, writing style how Jeff Bezos built from scratch the worlds one and only everything store. It is well illustrated and not only tells the Amazon story, it also gives surprising insights on highs and lows and what it really takes to reach the top.Awesome book (i mean book, it has 400 pages) which will stand one day in the public libraries close to Rockefeller, Steve Jobs and other global business gurus.

Not an original biographer but an original biography!!
I am writing this review after going through the book, It took 2 months bcos of breaks and slow reading. The book goes on explaining the story of the business house Amazon(as large as the river) and not Jeff Bezos( as it is in Steve Jobs). Writer has used fabulous writing skills to portray the company, also it tells about the expeditions Bezos did and about his nature. Although the book is 1 rated by MacKenzie Bezos but still book holds good command. But I gave 4 star not bcos of book but bcos I think these books should go on a chronological order, but in these in one line you are in 1994 then in another 2014 so that is a short problem otherwise book is awesome and every business undertaker should read it.

Nice insight to Amazon
I have been using the Amazon website recently ( 6 months ) to make purchases and am satisfied by their service and since I do not have access to the bookstores/ books I can read I was checking by options and found these e-readers and like apple I want to have a great ecosystem of books to buy so after a long brainstorming and checking options I decided to go with KINDLE, I have to say I am extremely satisfied with the kindle and driven by the happiness I watched some videos of interviews of Jeff Bezos , and then I decided just now I have finished the book "Becoming Steve Jobs " so it is time to know about Amazon and Jeff Bezos . And I bought this book ( irony is I bought this book in 60 seconds , which is I turn the vision of Jeff Bezos to do so ) , and I am reading it in my all new kindle paperwhite . It was a good insight to the company's vision and growth . Happy to have read this book so that I came to know a company that changed the customer service to a new level .

Could have been better
The writing could have been more articulate and interesting and the book needed some more editing. Although I still recommend it. Worth reading at least once.
