Buy Mysterious Creatures: A Guide to Cryptozoology - Volume 1 2nd Revised ed. by Eberhart, George M (ISBN: 9781909488076) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Certainly much better value for money than the hardback twin volume version ... - Very interesting book. A lot of cryptids which I had not heard of before and very informative. Certainly much better value for money than the hardback twin volume version which is £100 plus. I am now awaiting the publication of volume 2 to complete. Would recommend for interested parties. Review: Amazing - I always drooled over this book when it was a £150+ two copy hardback edition, but could never justify the cost. So I was really happy that it's been released as a cheaper paperback. Can't wait for Volume 2!

great book a fantastic entertaining read but i do agree we need Volume 2 N to Z i am a sceptic but i am interested in animals of all kinds. i do believe there are creatures out there yet to be discovered but i favor they will likely be found in the sea. Would not surprise me if a MEGLADON or something like that is out there. So i await Volume 2!!

Informative
These books are very informative and are so easy to just dip in and out of for a quick distraction.

The book consists of a patchwork of only a handful mythological beings (e.g. Curupira , Camazotz), but numerous extinct species (e.g. dodo, thylacine, moa) , hoaxes (Loch Ness Monster) and misidentifications (alleged sea monsters, giant cats) and aliens.

I’m a big RPG game player and I really enjoy adding hints of realistic mythology to my games. I bought this book for the purpose of creating stories around real mythological creatures. This book did not disappoint. There are some very obscure creatures without a lot of information other than they exist in a culture's history. But others, there’s lots of information that helps me create a story for the game.

Not what I expected but love of how much information there is. Kinda like a dictionary but with creatures.

Despite the rabbit hole of the internet proving the authors and most of the fans are crazy, this book (and volume 2) are really well written volumes that provide details for people who are interested in understanding how many cultures view the world and insight into their mythology.

This book is absolutely amazing. For anyone interested in cryptids I could not recommend a better place to start. While it does contain lots of images, its true glory is that of a field guide. It offers collected details such as common name, variant names, descriptions, behavior, habitat, location, sources, etc.. If your goal in purchasing this book is primarily for photos, you might want to look elsewhere.
