Apparently amperage matters.
I accidentally threw about the power supply that came with my external hard drives, not thinking there was that much of a difference between them all. After looking more closely, all of mine were .5-1.5A and could have damaged my drives if I used them. Found this replacement and it worked perfectly. Having all of the attachments was a huge plus as well because the stock plug didn't fit but one of the attachments did. Great power supply so far.

Fits many devices
Works great just choose the correct tip to plug into your device. I used it to power up a 19" HDTV. Make sure your device needs 12V 3A specific.
