Feel Like I Stumbled On A Secret! 🤫
This guitar is absolutely amazing for the price. First off, it looks really cool. And yeah, the aesthetic design is obviously a knock-off of a certain rock legends signature ESP, but as he would say, “So #%^*£% What!” The playability and sound is what really shocked me. I figured that given the price and it being shipped, I would have to put a ton of time doing a full setup. I was wrong! The action, intonation and overall tone is really amazing. I have instruments 2-3 times the price that don’t stay in tune as well as this one. Obviously your experience might be different, but for me, absolutely stunned at the overall quality and value!

The best value guitar purchase I have EVER made
I own about 20 Chinese guitars and seldom leave product reviews on anything. However, I wanted to make certain to leave stellar feedback on the Firefly product and this exception guitar in particular: The level of quality on this guitar far surpasses any previous Chinese guitars that I have owned- and even better than many of the big name manufacturers. It was set up beautifully right from the factory (something never seen in ANY guitar I have bought (and I'm 67 years old).. The harmonics and intonation were perfect. The action was very low with only the low E string buzzing slightly. The fret ends/edges are perfectly smooth, the instrument stays in tune and plays wonderfully. A fabulous instrument- and at this price point? Truly a"no-brainer" purchase.

Far more than just "good for the money".
Probably the best $220 Ive ever spent on Amazon. For context, I own many many $1k plus dollar guitars to compensate for my poor playing ability. I took the gamble on this instrument out of nostalgia for cheap guitars, and as a platform to practice my amateur luthier skills on. What I received was far more than the "good bones" I had hoped for. She came out of the styrofoam smelling like paint, glue, and China, with a reasonably usable set up. After my own rushed setup (little nut filing, quick fret polish, truss adjustment, and lowering of the bridge), she plays perfectly, even to my autistic standards of perfection. I assumed the electronics would be junk, and planned on swapping everything out for something ignorantly expensive, but was proven wrong. Legitimately, the cheapo stock pickups are perfectly fine, even when compared to all the cool guy big brands I run in everything else. Conclusion, for my example at least, this guitar absolutely competes with the entry level guitars from the big names (ESP LTD 256, Schecter Omen, etc.). This guitar is like the new hot girl that just moved in to the trailer park down the street. Sure, when you look really close you might be able to see the fetal alcohol syndrome, but she's more than worth taking home!

Sounds and plays good out the box. Probably best guitar I've owned.
Nice guitar out the box.

Sweet explorer type guitar
Hey there, just writing a review on this Firefly explorer guitar. It's was my first Firefly, WAS, because I recently bought another that is an homage to EVH. Anyway, we're here for the explorer review, right? I honestly was taken aback by the overall quality of Firefly's, it's sturdy, the hardware is pretty good and the fit and finish is remarkable. The model I purchased is, what I would call a bloodburst with red binding around the body, it's evil looking, and I love it! It was pretty well set up out of the box, but there was a little fine tuning needed (adjust the trust rod, change strings, annotate), the usually stuff for any level of guitar after shipping. Anyway, the pickups are over all pretty solid, enough to get you through until you can afford an upgrade at least. Anyway, this guitar really opened my eyes to less expensive guitars, and i wouldn't/didn't hesitate to pick up another Firefly.

Solid instrument
Great solid instrument for the money. Stays in tune fairly well with the stock tuners. Frets are nice and overall a good solid platform for modding.

What's not to love
Bought this about a month after my American made Strat, and do not regret it at all. I'm not going to claim it's better than the Strat. but I play it far more than I play my former go-to. Factory setup was nearly spot on. Action was set to a perfect for balance between playability and avoiding fret buzz (ymmv), frets were even and well finished with no sharp edges with a binding the full length of the finger board to prevent fret sprout, and intonation was nearly dead on, being just slightly flat on the low E and the a strings. All I had to do was restring, tune up, and play. Tuning hardware is solid and stays in tune. The gold hardware combined with the dark purple burst is also very easy on the eyes. I was concerned that I'd get a poorly built guitar in need of a ton of setup and tweaks. What I got has a build quality equal to my Strat with better setup from the factory than the Strat got from the music store that sold it.

Don't let the price tag fool you. It's a gem.
Complete shredder straight out of the packaging (guitar was wrapped in a light foam blanket inhaler which was then inside of a tight form fitting Styrofoam encashment snugly fit inside of the box) noticed a couple hardly noticeable spots 1. where the clear coat was a little warpy but it's on the backside so for me its whatever. 2, there is a tiny white streak towards the tip of the headstock, side closest to me. Again anyone else really wouldn't notice and in my opinion gives it character. As i awaited the 3 days until delivery, I was thinking of all the things I could do over time to make it more LTD like (usually what I always get) like throwing in 81/85 active EMG's, replacing the stop bar and tail piece with a black chrome set and getting black grover locking tuners, power slinky strings etc. The day it came I was like a little kid on Christmas morning, so my toddler and I began to tediously open the packaging like archeologists with a new found discovery. When we got it out, the amp and pedal board were fired up, the explorer plugged in (it was barely out of tune) tuned it and started playing. The sound was tremendous, the sustain was seemingly everlasting, the action was so perfect it was like swimming through a pool of melted butter without anything on. All that being said, I really am unsure about the pickup swap and the chrome is slowly growing on me for I am beginning to see that it compliments the Royal blueberryness. Long story short I want to thank firefly for making an at least 1200 dollar guitar (in my opinion) and selling it for an honest price for musicians/parents that may gift this brand of guitars to their children but cannot afford/doesn't want to pay all the extra for the name of an over exaggerated company. If they keep doing what they're doing this brand will live forever and please many. With how the industry is today, WE NEED MORE REAL MUSICIANS! Rock on from MN! Again, thank you.
