Geekworm Raspberry Pi 5 Case (P579) | Support PCIe M.2 NVMe SSD Shield Top X1001 / X1003 / X1004 / X1012/ X1015 / X1000 & Raspberry Pi 5 Active Cooler

I bought this last year to go with the Geekworm M.2 top hat for a Raspberry Pi 5 home assistant build. It’s a well-designed case that does exactly what you need – keeps everything neat, fits the add-on boards properly, and gives enough clearance without feeling bulky. Build quality is solid, nothing flimsy about it, and the active cooler does a good job of keeping temps under control even when the Pi is under load. Access to ports is straightforward, and fitting the M.2 hat alongside was no problem at all. It’s not a flashy case, but it’s practical and well thought through. If you’re putting together a Pi 5 setup with NVMe storage, this is pretty much the ideal choice.

This case means business. Its all metal and of a very high quality. Fits the PI5 and the NVME hat perfectly. If I was to be mega picky, I would have liked something to press for the power button rather than just the exposed PBC button.

Nice case. Need to be a bit careful when assembling it as it is quite easy to bend the sides of the base inwards while trying to hold it steady enough to fit everything onto it. Easily big enough to fit an rpi5, an active cooler and an X1001 top mounted M.2 SSD HAT. There's probably enough space to use an SSD with an integrated heatsink but I am using a bare one with a small 3rd party heatsink and that fits easily.

Good sturdy case. All the sockets on the pi5 aligned nicely. Only minor gripe was metal not being folded to 90 degrees introduces a slight curve to the lid when putting it together. And the WiFi/bluetooth signal does have to fight to get through.

Worked as advertised, perfect little box for my Raspberry Pi and SSD and looks good too. No notes!

Well this does exactly what its designed for and provides a robust and secure home for the complete kit. I have no hesitation in recommending this if you are using the Geekworm NVME sheild.

In summary - if you need a metal case for your Pi 5 + various top shields then this will likely fit. But if you can afford to pay more, consider something else. I needed a metal case for my Pi 5 that can fit the (active) cooler + various hat/shield for NVMe and TPU/AI card - and this fits the bill. The sheet metal is somewhat rough and not too precise but it does work and indeed you can fit pretty much everything. But it is pretty strong. For some reason it is wider on the right than the Pi 5 board itself - perhaps to fit some battery backed shield? - making the Pi wider. So if you intend to fit it in a standard "gap" this will not fit as it much wider. For now, it will do for me, but I do intend to get something better.

Valde denna låda då den låter mig få in kombinationen av en Raspberry Pi 5 med aktiv kylare (den officiella) och en s k HAT för NVMe-minne. Jag drar av en stjärna för att skruvarna är ovanligt små och "pilliga" att få dit.

J'utilise ce boitier depuis plus d'un an maintenant et rien à signaler. Avec sa coque en aluminium et ses grilles d'aération, il est efficace pour assurer un refroidissement correct de mon RPi5. Compact, il permet néanmoins d'utiliser un disque SSD Nvme situé sur un hat au dessus du RPi5.

Case perfettamente idoneo a contenere un pi5 con hat nvme. In metallo e si buona fattura mi ha permesso di dare un tocco dark alla mia postazione. Fornito di tutto il necessario per il montaggio compresi 4 gommini per la base. Spedizione veloce.
