** May 2022 ** The pandemic hit, so I was mostly staying home. I also had my first child & noticed my skin take a huge hit, so I wanted to get back to taking better care of it. I was searching high and low for another SPF powder and kept coming back to this one. The price has increased from $17 since I last purchased it. My skincare regimen has mostly stayed the same, but I've updated some items here and there. I also now follow the skincare routine from the book, Pure Skin, which is inspired by the minimal Japanese skincare of geishas: 1. Purify: Camellia (tsubaki) oil for oil cleansing 2. Polish: Rice bran powder to exfoliate 3. Plump: Alteya Organics flower waters (AM: rose & chamomile, PM: rose & lavender) to hydrate 4. Nourish: Camellia oil to moisturize 5. Protect: Derma-E SPF Powder mixed with silk powder When touching up the spf powder, I set it with Alteya rose water. Adding the silk powder to the SPF powder is optional but it really helps with smoothing out my complexion & silk is just so good for your skin in general! ** Previous Review from 2020 ** I'm now in my 30s and have been mistaken for being in college! After 2 years, this SPF powder is still my favorite. I've tried similar products from high-end makeup stores, but their ingredients and price point don't come close to Derma-E's mineral powder. I highly recommend it! This sunscreen met everything else I needed and more. Sometimes the application can be messy at first until I got used to it! My usual makeup routine is: - Cotz Natural Skin SPF 40 as primer mixed with 2-3 pumps of Thayers Rose Petal Toner - Bronzer, blush, highlighter (optional) - Derma-E SPF 30 Sunscreen Powder - Set whole face with 5-7 pumps Thayers Rose Petal Toner I don't wear foundation and try to keep as bare face as possible, but sun protection is a must. I don't usually wear make-up unless I'm going somewhere special. Recently though, my goal has been to take better care of my skin, especially in the sun. I found a great SPF face lotion that I really like but I wanted a translucent powder to go over it so that my skin would look matte and not shiny throughout the day. I wanted one with SPF as well since you are supposed to re-apply throughout the day and really, who does that over the course of a normal day with a lotion. When I saw this product I was excited. It sounded perfect, was at the right price point and seemed to have all the features I was looking for. I will say that it does keep my skin matte all day, it evens out my skin tone, and I feel as though it provides extra protection from the sun. I also like that it's super easy to throw in my purse and re-apply as needed throughout the day. That being said, this powder is NOT my idea of translucent. There is a definite color to it and it is bordering on being too dark for my skin tone. It definitely looks like I'm wearing foundation which isn't really the look I was going for. If you have super light skin, or even a very dark skin tone for that matter, this powder probably won't work for you. On the attached photo you can see the amount of color that comes off of my face on the tissue from this. This powder was all I had on when I rubbed the tissue over my face. I'm going to keep it and continue to use it because other than the color issue this meets all of my needs. Once I run out however, I will probably search for another powder that doesn't have so much color. EDIT- Since someone wanted to comment on my review and try to claim that "translucent" doesn't refer to a product not leaving color, I just want to add the following: According to an article written, Scott Miselnicky, Clinique’s VP of makeup global product development states: "though they look white to the naked eye, a true translucent powder is meant for just about every skin tone because it turns invisible when applied to the skin. " The definition of a translucent powder from Sally Beauty states: "Translucent powder is a sheer, colorless facial powder usually used to set makeup, not to cover or add color. It can also be used just to control shine and give the complexion a matte finish." So yeah, considering this powder wasn't by any stretch of the imagination white, nor is it "invisible when applied to the skin", nor is it "colorless" or "sheer" I would still affirm and stand by my original review that it is NOT translucent by any definition.

As much as I wanted to believe this product is translucent, it’s just absolutely not. Definitely warm tan color and it did transfer onto my white shirt. As far as the feeling, it was nice and lightweight and I definitely felt protected from the Sun. The component is a little strange with the amount of product output, there is no way to “open or close” it so product doesn’t keep coming out of the brush, you just put the lid on. Anyway, if you don’t mind the color or strange component I would recommend this product for easy and quick on the go sun protection

Unsure if it works but it’s easy to use. What other sunscreen can you put on your eyelids!? I usually don’t burn or anything so I can’t say how well this works but I actually love it as makeup and I will be using this all up and then probably rebuying and using it forever b/c I live somewhere very bright and sunny. First use made me sneeze/cough because the powder is quite fine and very loose, but that’s on me. I wasn’t really accustomed to using powder on my face at all. I also feel like it does not dry my skin out which I am impressed with because even powder eyeshadow does. Also available at Whole Foods in my area.

I LOVE THIS MINERAL POWDER. It is fabulous and looks divine on my skin. I use the Catrice under eye skin brighter & this - on top of my Organic MCT oil serum & it looks PERFECT. I highly recommend this. I even use it in the summer. Everyone thinks that I have no makeup on. Surprise, I DO! It is the perfect NO MAKE-UP - make-up coverage with sunscreen too! I recommend this to EVERYONE. I LOVE IT! Please keep this formula the SAME! LOVE! LOVE! LOVE! I am grateful and you will be too. It looks best on Medium Beige Skin Tones. If you have fair skin or dark skin, this is not your product. In the summer, I am darker & cannot use this but I use it all winter long. I wish they made this for light skin and dark skin but please keep this shade too!

I am what my mother calls “clear” - red hair and green eyes. I burn just thinking about the sun. But in the past 3 years I have become insanely allergic to cream sunscreens. My face would puff up and I ended up spending too much time in the ER. So I had to find alternatives. Enter powdered sunscreens! I bought this product last summer and at first I didn’t like it and subsequently didn’t use it. It is slightly too dark for my clear girl complexion. But I took it anyway on a trip last week to New Orleans. I ended up using this more than my Supergoop! powder sunscreen as it fit better in my cute purse. The things we do for fashion, right? I was pleasantly surprised by the Derma E powder. My skin wasn’t irritated in the slightest, and it worked just as well on my arms and legs as it did on my face. Looking back at photos where I used the sunscreen, there was no flashback so I wasn’t pasty white. I even looked - gasp! Tan! Or tan for my skin lol. I did get slightly tanned during the trip - this sunscreen powder is only SPF 30 after all. I’d recommend this sunscreen powder for people with fair to light skin tones. It worked great!

I have been using this powder for a while now and have learned how to get around some of its issues. First, like many reviewers have said, the brush is impossible to squeeze back into the cap. That is why I was elated to discover that there is a built-in sleeve that you can pull up to compress the bush to fit into the cap! Problem solved! Also, I've found that the cap stays on better if you break off the little stick/rod thing in the cap. And I've had no issues with with the powder spilling out. Second, you CAN and SHOULD wash the brush, it's just a little bit of a process. i actually recommend buying two of these so that you still have one to use while the brush of the other is drying. The KEY TRICK is to straighten out a paper clip and run it though the tube of the brush to clear out any clogged powder before and after you wash the brush. Ideally water should be able to run through the tube. Then leave it to completely dry, bristles facing down. The only other issue I have with this powder is that it does leave a dark orange tint on my skin after I apply it a few times throughout the day. That is annoying and I haven't found a solution other than to not use it as liberally and to still reapply my liquid sunscreen. If you have medium to tan skin this shouldn't be a problem. The positives of this powder for me are that it is super convenient, helps control shine, and evens out my skin tone a bit. And of course the sun protection! Hope this review helps some of you!
