The Best There Is!
This is what you need - clinically effective doses of scientifically proven ingredients. No “secret formulas” and made-up names, this contains only legit, quality ingredients meant to enhance and support muscle growth and recovery. I was also surprised and am happy to report that it’s the best tasting pre/post workout I’ve ever had (sour gummy, which is not really sour, if you are concerned about that). Mixes incredibly well, quickly. I recommend getting the no caffeine version, so you can use this any time of day, pre and post workout, without worrying about caffeine intake. Just grab some cheap caffeine from bulk supplements and use it at your discretion. The Barbell Medicine crew actually care about people, they aren’t in this for the money. You can believe in the integrity of their products. I encourage everyone to check out their website or YouTube channel, where you can easily verify this for yourself.

The formula change ultimately lead me to look elsewhere.
I'm writing this review after having been a PeriRX consumer for over a year. TLDR is the change in formula affected the taste and mix-ability enough that I investigated other products and decided to try something else. I used PeriRX because I have a lot of faith in the company and I saw it as a great way to give back to a company that produces a lot of good, free content. I never did any "controlled" studies to see if the effects are different for me. Honestly, there's too many variables to make it worthwhile. I really take a pre-workout because a) it sets the stage that I am going to work out and b) I like the heightened feeling I get when taking a pre-workout. In both formulas, I really enjoy that I can mix it with a lot of water, and it doesn't taste watered down. However, the newest formula had an off-putting taste and tended to froth, which isn't ideal. At the end of the day, placebo of taking and enjoying a pre-workout gives me a lot of benefit and this started to wane for me. As this occurred, I started to do research the supplements to see which ones I really enjoyed or didn't. The thing that sticks out to me is the inclusion of BCAA's/EAA's in the formula. The research suggests that there’s not much of an affect for people who eat enough protein and they are probably about a third to half the cost of the entire supplement. I also, did not prefer to take one scoop before and after, but that could easily be eliminated by taking it all before. I also don’t like having to purchase an additional creatine supplement to take on off days. All this being said, I still don’t’ doubt this is one of the best pre-workouts on the market, I just found something that fit me a bit better for now.

No BS ingredients, actually helps with recovery
This is a great product, no BS ingredients and it REALLY does help with recovery and DOMS if taken it as directed. I was initially only taking this as a pre and intra workout, but I started adding a half to full scoop in with my protein after heavy days and that is when I noticed the recovery aspect the most. I love that the ingredient list is comparatively small and strictly purpose-driven by only including compounds backed by peer reviewed scientific literature and nothing else. Everything is clearly labeled with no “proprietary blends” that obfuscate content information. This is hard to find in the supplement industry and I respect barbell medicine for taking this approach. I really appreciate the caffeine-free aspect as I do most of my lifting in the evening so I want to avoid the mega dose of caffeine and mystery herbals that are oh so common in almost every other intra-workout type supplement. If I need caffeine i’ll just supplement with coffee. Overall this just provides way more flexibility. Flavor was a little wonky on older batches but its gotten better. Its perfectly fine, but i’m not picky. Overall great product!

Good product. Bad job on Amazon to send the right stuff.
Good product but Amazon seems to be unable to ship what they are supposed to. This is my second order. The first one arrived and I discovered it wasn’t the NO CAFFEINE version. The next order arrived and it was watermelon instead of sour gummy. Kinda disappointed in them. Over all the taste is fine.

Better tasting than anything else out there so far.
I would easily give this product 5 stars if they would remove the sucralose. The stuff dissolves well. It is not at all gritty. It is sickeningly sweet — I mean I really had to suppress a gag reflex; then after getting it down, I was hit with an after taste that lingered even after drinking 2 glasses of water and one of milk. I finally got rid of it by literally chewing on coffee grounds! I wish the Barbell Medicine folks would make an unsweetened version and that way customers could sweeten it as they prefer or even not sweeten it at all. I buy unsweetened, unflavored whey powder from Natural Factors and mix it with milk and no additional flavoring. Barbell Medicine would be wise to follow Natural Factors lead. I will finish out this container with the assistance of a handful of coffee beans, because an aqaintance of mine swears it does wonders for recovery. Revised comments: At the time I wrote the above review, this was the first workout formula I had ever tried other than straight creatine. I have since tried other preworkout formulas that have an even worse aftertaste. And I now appreciate what I believe to be a benefit to my work capacity with minimal side affects, mainly slight bloating which is common with all preworkouts. What I really appreciate is that it does not give me the jitters/anxiety that other preworkouts do. Still hoping they will come out with an unflavored version.

Great product in terms of effectiveness, not very good tasting however.
The ingredients are well thought out and the value is good. As far as effectiveness goes, I think this is a great product. My only caveat is that flavor-wise, there is minimal filler so don't expect too much. That said, I much preferred watermelon over sour gummy. I didn't really like either, but watermelon was much more palatable to me.

Good mix of supplements but sour gummy tastes bad. Get the watermelon instead.
Good mix and like that it doesn’t have caffeine. But sour gummy tastes horrible. Had difficulty finishing the container. The watermelon is much, much better.
