UPDATED REVIEW: Giving knife a 4.5 and customer service a 5 (initially rated it at 3)
UPDATE TO PREVIOS 3 STAR REVIEW: Originally, I rated the knife at 3 stars. I did get contacted by the seller and they offered me a full refund, so customer service and satisfaction gets 5 stars! As far as the knife after sharpening and playing with it, it's a keeper. They have a special going at the time of my second review, which I could have returned and bought, but too much hassle in my opinion!!! This knife is heavy compared to the other long blade knives I use (there are two long knives I use on a regular basis for chopping along with the two utility knives). I used it for chopping and slicing through things. For chopping, I probably will use my other knives, the motion to do chopping with this knife is different because the blade is curved (not picking on the knife, I have issues with my hands and wrists due to carpel tunnel and arthritis, so the motion to chop with this knife is a bit awkward for me). For heavy duty work, this knife is great. It has bumped to the top for doing the heavy duty work. I tried cutting the husk off of a young coconut, cut through Cartlidge and cut open Lobster shell on the extreme sides successfully. The knife didn't fare too well in cutting ripe/soft/juicy fruits in my opinion, so I'll stick to my utility knives for such tasks. I tried twirling the knife the way they do it in the commercials/ads, but I couldn't do it on my index finger, my pinky seemed to be the right size for the twirling, but I don't have any control when I twirl the knife with my pinky!!!! Overall, I'll give the knife a 4 to a 4.5 grade, their customer puts them closer to 5. OLD REVIEW: Packing is cute; they try to make opening the box feel like opening an iPhone package. I like the handle and the hole in the blade. From the description the knife was supposed to be razor sharp and of course Japanese. The knife is made in China and the blade was dull. I ended up sharpening the blade for couple of minutes to cut a tomato properly. Out of the box, the blade probably couldn’t cut through milk! As far as sharpness out of the box, my Victorinox and cheap Daiso knives were sharp right out of the box. I’ll play with this couple of more weeks and update my review! So far, it’s a meh!

Fantastic knife
It is very sharp and durable. Held up very well in the field. Cut through meat and veg like gliding through paper. Very comfortable to hold and easy to clean.

Awesome knife, and looks cool too!
I actuallyl bought one of these for my white elephant, and decided to get one for myself as well. It was the star of the white elephant game too, EVERYBODY wanted it and it got retired FAST! The one I kept for myself, I use it daily! Looks great, sharp, shape fits perfectly in my hand, and the hole cutout gives me a comfortable, controlled grip!

Maybe this is being mis-categorized?
This knife came up when I searched for a new "kitchen knife". It's a good knife (comfortable, sharp, good steel) but seems better suited as a hunting/camping knife. The blade is SO curved it is kind of awkward to cut some things on the kitchen cutting board...I wouldn't buy it again for in my kitchen but maybe for outdoors?

Great knife and case. Very sturdy and sharp.
Knife and case are great. It takes some maneuvering to get the knife in the case just right to be able to snap the snap. I love it and highly recommend this. I will be buying another one to put in my 72 hour survival backpack.

This knife is amazing.
I kept seeing this knife advertised on you tube. Because I have been burnt before on mail orders I checked to see if Amazon carried it. I was skeptical that it would be as good as the commercial said, but wow. This knife is heavy and very sharp. We buy frozen cream pies and cut them by the slice which is not easy because they are still frozen. This knife because of its shape makes it so easy. I just rock it back and forth a couple times and you have a slice of frozen pie.

This is really Sharp
So far, love this knife. I clean it off as soon as I'm done with it. I have a magnetic stand I bought from Amazon so its on display with some other knives like this to show it off. Plus I wouldn't want it in a drawer. Its too sharp. Made in China, not Japan, and you can tell the difference
Excitedly, I opened the package. 5 stars for packaging and design. I knew the finger hole would be awesome for control, and the curvature perfect for my needs. The real kicker was that it's Japanese -- the finest blade makers in the world. Well, not so fast. The ad is deceiving, showing the manufacturing process and stressing the Japanese connection. Well maybe it was designed in Japan, but it's made in China. China can produce excellent products, but knives, in particular, aren't their strong suit, as I've learned before. And I'm disappointed in the performance, which is why I went back to packaging to see where it was made. It didn't perform like a Japanese knife. So I ordered a whetstone kit -- maybe the performance will improve. Just cutting raw sweet potatoes gave me a run for my money. Of course I'm not a big, burly man like in the commercial. And I'm not one to slam it down with great force, which would be required for sweet potatoes, apparently. I like the shape, design, and dimpled sides of blade. Would just like for a product to be represented fully, clearly, truthfully, including its manufacturer's country of origin, which is nowhere in the paperwork. I had to retrieve the outer box from the trash to see 'China.' The rest of the enclosures made no mention, and no, I didn't get the whetstone kit from them. I'm pretty much done with them.

Gehard staal, vlijmscherp zoals beschreven. Let op,het echte mes heeft un soort watermerk in het staal met de naam Matsato en de niet originele keukenmessen staat niets op en de schedes van plastic.
