Would it work to repeat the signal of a mylink rts (for smartphone)? how does it know which shutter motor to pass the signal to!?

Yes the Somfy repeater will pickup any Somfy RTS signal and help you increase your range of RTS . I suggest you get one if you are using the Mylink because the range is limited in this device as it was designed to control a room that's why it is only a 5 channel device. If you have different rooms to control you can try the repeater or just get another Mylink.

Is the product suitable for outdoors?

I have not been able to get this product to work at all. I have a home automation system, and the shades are registered to the ertsy, and the repeater flashes, but the shades don't go up and down. Sorry. I'm still using the local clicker that came with the Somfy shades. It could be the concrete in the walls of the house.

How many of these can be added. Pretty large home and my utrsii is having issues reaching a few of the back bedrooms.

Yes, it is an RTS repeater. You need to account for Location to minimize RF interference. All depends on range and type of home consteuction.
