J-B Weld Multi-Purpose Putty - Quart - Home Exterior & Interior

Damn good! Helped me repair a hole in my garage door. Got my deposit from my landlord back. Couldn’t tell it was a repair

First of all I want to state that this stuff hardens fast, very fast. Be ready to apply and form this putty as soon as you mix it. Mix it quickly also because as soon as you start the mixing process you activate this stuff and the clock starts clicking. I misused this putty on a fiberglass RV door repair. The stated application does not include fiberglass but it appears to be working for my purpose. One of the reasons I used this product is that I hate working with true fiberglass products. The other reason was that this is off white when curred and the fiberglass repair putty is dark green. It actually smells a lot like fiberglass so I suspect it is in the same family of products just missing the actual fiberglass fibers. That and the color is off white vs dark green. It sands out very easily and you can follow up with additional applications as you complete your repair. Being the cure time is so quick I would recommend that for big projects to work in steps. Build it up slowly. With the quick cure time it works out well that way. You only need a few minutes between applications. As far as reviewers complaining about the container not being full that is because it is actually sold by weight not volume. They list or market it by the container size but that is a little misleading as it is actually sold by weight. It's good stuff.

This is the first time I've used the J-B Weld version of this two-part putty kind of product. I actually preferred it over the Bondo version because its activator is blue (rather than white like Bondo's), which makes it much easier to assess the blending process. Aside from that, I found it just as reliable, easy to work with, and excellent for making flawless and robust repairs in wood, metal, masonry, etc.

Once you put that hardener in the putty, it's off to the races! As you've got NO more than five minutes before it begins to harden to the point that it's unspreadable. Now, this is great for holes or cracks that you want to quickly get to sanding and painting, so as to complete the job very quickly. So, do not mix up more than you can work on in this narrow window. I used it to patch some cracks in a very large ceramic pot that were caused by days of hard freezes (probably should have waterproofed the inside before planting). It has a strong smell, which is no problem outdoors.

I tried using JB Weld Multi-Purpose Putty to smooth out parts of a Halloween costume, and honestly, it was pretty disappointing. No matter what ratio of putty to hardener I tried, it just would not dry properly. I left it sitting for hours and even overnight, but it stayed soft and tacky instead of hardening up so I could sand it smooth. I have had good luck with other JB Weld products before, but this one did not perform the way it should. Definitely not ideal for crafting or detailed work where you need it to cure fully and be sandable.
