Farrow & Ball Living with Colour

This long awaited book took much longer than usual to arrive on my doorstep due to delivery problems, however once I did receive it, it proved well worth the wait! The book is a fabulous coffee table addition to my already expanding interior design collection. The photographs are beautiful, the text alongside the photographs are detailed, explaining the owners of the particular homes in question and the Farrow and Ball paints used on specific areas within the room, such as 'Lime white was used on the skirtings as well as the walls'. I found myself with my new book in the one hand and my farrow and ball paint swatch booklet in the other! I can't wait to order my farrow and ball paints! Anyone who loves really beautiful interiors will love this book, it's not only about paints but an exquisite interior book as well!

Farrow and Ball have always interested me the colours they produce are amazing and the quality of paint is excellent! The book helps with choice of colour for varying rooms, houses, cottages different architectural styles, very interesting, more than happy to peruse at any time and would recommend to family and friends.

We bought this book to help us decide on a new colour scheme when considering having the house repainted. We live practically next door to a Farrow and Ball shop in Marylebone, (London, UK) so it's logical that we'd get our paints from them. This book is very nicely laid out and with beautiful photographs of great interiors with super colours, but it's not much more than a glorified brochure. I suppose that I shouldn't expect anything more about the psychology of colour combinations, etc.....but I did. Hence only 4 stars rather than 5 from me. Still a beautiful book, and I'm glad to have bought it.

We've just used this book as a great way to narrow down our options for decorating our new flat. The photos are excellent and there is a comprehensive index - for each F&B colour in the book, each page it features on is listed.

Wel-written, well illustrated, like all of Ros Byam Shaw's books. Recommended.

The book is divided into two parts. Part I is about different styles (cottage, contemporary, urban etc.), part II is about colour palets and combinations. It is pleasant to browse through. I was looking for a book that would give me more information on how to create a specific style and how to combine that with the appropriate colours. How colours behave in the changing light throughout the day and what to pay attention to and look for, when choosing colours. Ideally I would have liked to get a sort of "road map" on how to best express the experience/feeling one would like to have, when living in the house; what to pay attention to, what to avoid, possible pitfalls etc. Therefore I would qualify it more as an intersting coffee table book, rather than a sort of a manual.

I just love looking over and over again the photos. They are in style chapters then finally colour chapters. I just love the chapter on white rooms. Great large pictures that are stylishly shot. Inspiring.

Ｆ＆Ｂ （インテリアペイントです）のショールームにて、こちらの本を見ました。 コーディネーターの方が「アマゾンでも購入できますよ♪」と教えて下さったので、プチリフォームの参考の為に購入。 大抵の本（雑誌以外）は図書館で借りる派ですが、この本は購入して正解でした。 インテリアの好みは別としても、壁や天井、木製品などの色使い、塗り分けなど、ペイントでリフォームしたい人にはとても参考になると思います。 解説は英文ですが、英語が全くダメな私でも使われてる色の名前は判るので、いつかＦ＆Ｂでペイントしたいと思ってる方にも最適です。 塗装された部分が主役の本なので、インテリア雑誌に紹介されがちな豪華だったり作りたてだったりの部屋ではなく、 タイトルどおり？の、片付いていてもまとまっていても、ゴージャスであっても、生活感を感じる内容がいい感じです。 小さなコーナーの演出などは、狭い我が家でも参考になります。 真っ白のビニール壁紙には飽きたと言う方、ＤＩＹでペイントリフォームしてみたい人、 ポップなインテリアはちょっと。。。って方にはお薦めです。 定価ＵＳ＄４０なのにこの価格。 内容からするとお得感あり過ぎです。笑 追記、注文当時、日本円で３１５８円でした。 今はそんな価格にはなりづらいと思いますが、洋書は多少の前後は常にあるようです。 直ぐに要らない方はお気に入りに入れて様子を見てみるのも（高くなる可能性もあるわけですが）いいかもしれません。

Ein wunderschönes Buch und eines meiner Lieblingsbücher betreffend Interior. Habe mir daraufhin einige Farrow & Ball Farben zugelegt und meine Wände und Möbel gestrichen. Super Qualität, mit keiner anderen bisher probierten Farbe zu vergleichen. Weder an Intensität noch an Qualität. Das Buch gibt viele Einrichtungsvorschläge und hat mich zum farrow & Ball Fan gemacht!

Dieses Buch hat mir sehr gut gefallen. Tolle Ideen und Tipps für den täglichen Gebrauch. Wer einmal mit den Farben von F & B gearbeitet hat, der wird das auch verstehen.

The photos say it all but the story fills the pictures with the history of these lovely homes. One gets great ideas to transform their own homes into colorful ones. I would recommend this book for any one interested in improving the appearance of their home.

Das Buch ist voll von geschmackvollen Bildern. Vom kleinen Cottage über urbane Lofts zum edlen Landhaus - alles wurde mit den subtilen Farben gestaltet und wirkt sehr britisch. Ich habe viele Anregungen für die Farbgestaltung in den eigenen vier Wänden mitgenommen. Das Buch gibt Anregungen ohne Vorschriften zu machen und weckt Lust und Mut etwas auszuprobieren.
