Works like a charm!
I bought this because I was too lazy to take my car to autozone after a check engine light was coming on and off for a week. This product was very easy to use and the instruction booklet was straightfoward. I love that I can both scan codes and reset codes right from my phone! My only complaint is that it uses WiFi rather than Bluetooth, but that's a pretty minor complaint. You will also need a 3rd party app in order to receive data from the reader. I downloaded OBD Fusion. This reader is specifically compatible with iOS, make sure you have an iPhone or something! If anyone is having trouble, follow these steps: 1. Plug reader into OBD2 port 2. Turn car to "ON" but do not turn it over! Engine should not be running. 3. Go to wifi settings on your iPhone/iPad/Mac and find the OBDII network. 4. Connect to the network, more details and troubleshooting can be found in booklet 5. Go to the app you installed and run a scan for codes! And if anyone was wondering, my check engine light was due to advanced timing somewhere in the engine. After researching, I discovered it was because I had forgotten to get an oil change for far too long. Oops :( at least it was a cheap and easy fix. If I had taken it to the dealer I have no doubts they would have sold me a ton of stuff I didn't need.

Nice obd2 reader.
This obd2 reader worked great on my 2021 Ram Cummins 2500. I used it to monitor all my sensors while pulling heavy loads. Always had a great connection easy to use. Not too bulky and stayed out of the way. Not sure which one would have been better, the wifi or Bluetooth. Either way, it worked as intended.

Fantastic, with one caveat.
This product works as advertised. It plugs in, connects quick, and makes life much easier. Its a good price and i have 0 complaints about the product. So, what's the catch? Simple: this product does NOT come with an App. You have to download one separately. If you use android, no problem. There a couple free, fantastic, ones. If you are on Apple/IOS? You're going to have to pay a few extra dollars to get a good app. I read this and thought it would not be an issue, they seemed cheap enough and had free trials. However... the quality of cheap apps are poor at best. If i had known this, i may have bought a different, more expensive, product that comes with software - given that I'm on apple And the cheapest Software runs around 12$, and you probably wont get much from it. Having to invest around 25$ for actual work. Making the total cost of this tool for me around 50$. If that sounds reasonable then you found your scanner! Again, works like a charm. Updates quick. Reads thousands of codes and has worked in every vehicle i put it in - no issues.

Works well. Very responsive.
Purchased the iOS version that comes with WiFi and Bluetooth. Ever since iOS 13, Apple only allows items with 4.0 Bluetooth to work. This item is 3.0 Bluetooth which is compatible with Android only. The item does not come with an app however, Installation was easy. Insert the device into Odb2 slot, turn car on, wait for lights to flash and connect it to your phone’s WiFi. Keep in mind also that when connected via WiFi you will not be able to connect to the internet. It is for this that the Bluetooth version is better in my opinion. There are are numerous apps to use on the AppStore. I am currently using Car Scanner which is free with an option to purchase which removes ads. Android store has an app called torque which is very nice but unavailable in iOS. The unit is very responsive and works great in my 2015 Mazda CX-5. It’s about 4 inches x 2 inches and may be left in the slot permanently. It basically disappears and is unnoticeable when installed. It reads speed, rpms and has live data. It also displays trouble codes and has the option to erase them. If a code is found simply do a google search for a description. It can also inform you if your car will pass an emissions test. I really like the tool and overall it’s a must have for all cars.

Great tool, especially for the price!
Save a trip to the local store or mechanic, round up an unused tablet & have at it! You could also just use a smartphone. This one is really handy because there's no mechanical switch to flip or buttons to push to change modes, the software can do it for you. It's plug in, download an app, connect via wifi & go. A tablet is probably better if you're using this for a gauge cluster or recording diagnostic runs, just due to the larger screen. This worked fine on my iPhone as a code reader & clearing said codes. A sweet bonus to this one, with the correct app, it could read some of the subsystems! I know they don't advertise this, but it works great with ForScan. Anything Ford/Lincoln/Mercury & Forscan will let you connect to things like the BCM (body control module), which is where other error codes can be stored & give you more info as to what is going on. Only drawback is there might be some vehicles that this can be a tight fit, my truck covers the status lights. I'll probably pick up a short extension cable for mine.

Performance, Value, and Follow-Up is a Great Combination
The reader powered up in my 2007 4Runner, connected to the OBD Fusion app without issue, and provided the data needed. So far it's doing exactly what I expected. It's very handy for instances where you're interested in specific information, for example on a recent off-road trail run featuring sustained climbs on a rocky, muddy track where I monitored my transmission fluid temperature. (FYI to 4th Gen 4Runner owners, it stayed well within a safe range, the highest reading being around 198F. My truck is stock.) It's important to know that this device draws current all the time, meaning it will eventually drain your vehicle battery if 1) it's left installed and 2) you don't drive your vehicle for some time (the period will vary based on the level your battery is charged to, its age, and so on). Read and understand that part of the instructions to avoid a dead battery. I feel the company's follow-up message is also worth mentioning. I get that part of it is to get people to write reviews, but it was still nice to receive a message emphasizing their commitment to customer service and the warranty, and encouraging contact if the customer has any issues or questions. I've had no need to test that commitment but feel more confident because they reach out to customers that way. On the OBD Fusion app, I purchased the advanced diagnostics package for Toyota vehicles and the reader delivered the information flawlessly.

I`m not understanding anymore Amazon`s reviews...
I used to heavily consider Amazon`s reviews when purchasing things. Not anymore. I bought this scanner BECAUSE of them and due to its low price, and that`s where the nightmare started. Forget about the installation (not that bad) or the fact that just a few of my sensors where available (oil, transmission and differential temperatures not available, 30% of the reason of my purchase): the worst is about to come. Main reason for my purchase was to connect the car with track specific applications in order to combine the data with the performance of the car on track. I drive a 2016 Mazda Miata during track weekends. Installed the Bafx in preparation for the weekend (the car has 10 K miles and was completely reviewed and refreshed), and 2 days after the battery was dead. Didn't realize at the beginning, thought that being 3 years old was probably gone and replaced the battery. 3rd session on Saturday the car shuts down at the end of a straight and the dashboard and dash lights go crazy, and I had to leave the track (track marshal performs a check for safety reasons on a car that has some potential problem). 2nd session of Sunday same thing with the same results, but this time at the end of a straight at 105 miles/hour and I lost hydraulic assistance. Blame on me, never connected this little cr... with the problem (Miatas are famous for its reliability and never had an issue before). Went back home and parked the car. By wednesday I decided to check a couple of things and found the battery was dead again. Refreshed with a battery tender, and went to load gas. Car died again at the gas station. Somebody helped me to give the car a push (manual) and went back home. At 1 am and not being able to sleep trying to figure out what could be happening to Bafx came to my mind: went to the garage, removed the OBD and threw into a box. Never again had any of those issues. 1+1= Bafx.

A Fair Review Pro’s – Con’s
First, this is my second review on this product. I deleted my initial review because I provided an extremely critical one-star review; more critical than what it deserved, mainly because I did not reach out to the company to get answers to questions. Shortly after posting my initial review, I received a private message from an individual who identified himself as Mark Cowan, owner of BAFX Products. He responded to my questions/concerns about the product and company. I did update the initial review however, it was taking very long to go live – days turned into weeks. Anyway, I wanted to make sure this company and product gets a chance at a fair review, which is the reason I deleted it and now posting this abbreviated review. PRO’S 1. Customer Service. Mark Cowan, owner of BAFX Products reached out via private message to address questions and concerns about the product and company, which is appreciated. I do not expect every company owner to respond, but this is appreciated. If you have a question, reach out and ask. You will get a response. CON’S 1. Does not clear Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) Airbag, or Charging Test Battery/Alternator. 2. Even though BAFX provides software to use their product, they recommend using third party software “OBD Fusion” that cost of $9.99. Additionally, there are In-App Purchases for $9.98 each, so the software will potentially cost $19.98 if you own a specific year of Ford vehicle. My recommendation to BAFX Products is to upgrade the existing software so that you do not have to refer your customers to another company. I simply do not want to get into the predicament where something is not working and each company points at the other saying, it’s not our software, or it’s not our hardware/product; we’ve all been there before and it’s an unnecessary hassle. CONCLUSION The review I posted is my personal opinion. I do have plenty of experience under the hood, but simply put, this product did not work for my needs. However, I raised my review from one star to three stars simply because this company followed-up and was eager to address my questions/concerns based on my initial review. BAFX Products did admit they overlooked providing the correct updated information regarding the software in the order I received and has supposedly corrected this issue. However, I returned the product and cannot provide any more information other than my experience working with the product I received. I do think they did a great job in follow up and deserves the two additional stars because customer service is a vital aspect of every company and BAFX Products seems to get it.
