Pocket Hand Chainsaw Review - Highly Recommended
This Pocket Hand Chainsaw Works better than I thought it would. I'm very happy with this chainsaw. One reason I picked this particular one is because it has more cutting teeth than other saws I looked at (twice as many as some!). It cuts right through branches. I cut through a 3" branch in about 15 seconds! Much easier than I thought! I wanted one of these Pocket Hand Chainsaws for a while because I thought they would be good for camping gear, survival gear, or bug out bags. Surprisingly I am using it at home more than I expected for trimming sucker branches off of trees. Is it faster than a gas chainsaw? No, but it does work good! It fits in your pocket, and you don't need gas or electricity to use it. To Use: 1- Wrap the saw around the branch or tree 2- Pull back and forth on the 2 hand straps, very simple. 3- Apply some pressure and it cuts fast. It has cutting teeth facing both directions, so you are cutting on every pull. Also, when the chain is wrapped around the tree it's cutting on 3 sides (back and 2 sides) at the same time, which makes for a fast cut! The quality of the chainsaw is great! It looks and feels like a normal chainsaw blade. It feels like it will last a long time. Plus, I can re-sharpen it like a regular chainsaw, if needed.

Works very well
First, ANYTHING to do with the words "logs," "sawing," and "manually," usually won't be easy. This item is a length of chainsaw chain with a loop on each end made of web material. You put the chain around the other side of a branch, limb, or small log and manually pull one end then the other. It takes a little muscle and some time. That said, this item works better than I thought it would. It has a bunch of aggressive teeth and it cuts on both pulls. It literally eats wood once it gets going. It would be a great addition on a camping trip or just to have around the property. So far I have cut up to about a 3" limb off of a tree. It took less than a minute and didn't take a lot of energy once the teeth bit into the wood. I bought this to with the intent of tying a cord onto a weight and slinging it up and over an out-of-reach limb, then tying a cord to the saw, pulling it up to the limb and pruning it off using the cords as extensions of the loops. It works, but it takes some practice and patience. The only problem is when the limb cuts through, it can pinch the chain and there you are with two cords and a saw stuck in a limb 10 feet above you. It takes some grunt to eat it through the last strands of the limb. So far the saw has held up to some major pulling so I'd say it's sturdy. But it works without having to get on a tall ladder with a pruning saw or a chainsaw. Both dangerous. The saw can be sharpened using a round file and the pouch it comes week is handy. This saw does what it's advertised to do and does it well. Recommended.

Pocket Chainsaw Blade
This is an excellent wood cutting device. Small easy to carry, operates on "Elbow Grease" & Steam. So long as you don't run out of steam this thing will cut it. Logs or limbs 4 inches and down don't stand a chance. I recommend this chainsaw blade with excellent gripping devices to all my fellow Woodsmen. JJF

Get a Buck Saw
I bought one of these out of curiosity. I had seen them for years and their compact size and light weight seemed attractive. My friends and I tested the saw on a multi day wilderness canoe and raft trip on the Eel River last winter. I also had along a folding aluminum buck saw. In short, after about ten minutes of cutting 4"-6" downed wood, the pocket chain saw went back in its case and the buck saw cut our firewood for the rest of the trip. I had a Schmidt packsaw for years and the aluminum replacement is more compact and lighter. The Bob Dustrude Quickbuck in the larger sizes also looks interesting. Check it out on Youtube. So in conclusion unless you are feeling like a 3hp 2-stroke, forget about the human powered chainsaws and get a nice buck saw. ps. I don't like the triangular folding saws like the Sven saw because as you cut into the wood the stroke you can take gets shorter and you can't cut anywhere as large a piece of wood as you can with a bow saw.
