Working with Emotional Intelligence (Leading with Emotional Intelligence)
Purchased, Working with Emotional Intelligence (Leading with Emotional Intelligence), to help me in dealing with the people at work. In the position that I am in I need to use emotional intelligence to interact with the diverse and different personalities in my office. Purchased the CD because spend most of my time commuting, so this is perfect to pass the time on my way to and from work.

Great book!
I learned a lot reading this book on how essential emotional intelligence is in our work and personal lives! When we can empathize with people we can serve and lead them better. I recommend this book to anyone who seeks personal growth, influence, and impact in the lives of people.

Must really know our feelings in order to deal with them and keep our feelings from controlling us. A MUST READ
Last mother's day 2013 my son asked me about intelligence and I did not know what to say on the subject. After reading this book and his other books on Social Intelligence and his book on FOCUS (work place which may be applied to home) are all great books. These books and the books on 'LENS Neurofeedback' by Stephen Larson PhD Have helped me to become more relaxed around myself and others.. I actually had four Neurofeedback sessions to clear the cobwebs in the nervous system/brain; like getting rid of unnecessary clutter... calming down the nervous system. A tune-up I highly recommend. This helps PTSD, anxiety M.S. Parkinsons, etc Please read my review on Daniel Goleman's book FOCUS. I have learned a great deal from his books

A perfect continuity for everyone who has read ''Emotional Intelligence'' by ...
A perfect continuity for everyone who has read ''Emotional Intelligence'' by the same author. If you are in the work force and holding a job, this knowledge will transform the way you understand ''working'' and will make you a happier worker. Amazing insights, backed up with scientific explanations but still easy and pleasant to read for a non-scientific mind.

Not the best way in nor refresher
Goleman was a big deal in the 1990s, and I experienced this book that way when I read the unabridged version. Now, he has been flattered by imitation and assimilation into many related works. By that I mean, some of what he popularized about emotional intelligence, applied to the business world, has been rolled up into cognitive psychology and mainstream business schools teaching. And some of it has not been taken up so much -- the pschodynamic assumptions that are less empirically based. I do not think one gains very much by going back to the 1990s bit here, and certainly not in this abridged version. It leaves out the connecting hypotheses and research basis. This abridged recording gives just the stories; so you get mostly Goleman the journalist, missing out on Goleman the Ph.D. psychologist. I preferred the whole deal in the unabridged original, not leaving out the innards. I'd recommend, if anything, reading or listening to the original book instead; or perhaps skip ahead to Goleman's Social Intelligence, which though it does not focus on business so much, pulls on more updated research and theory a decade later, in the mid-2000s.

For most people having a high IQ proves you're smart and you will do good in life... But the A students are not the one who do best in life! The one who do best in life are the one with a high EQ (Emotional Quotient). Read it it will make sense!!

Before I read Working with Emotional Intelligence and Daniel Goleman's classic book Emotional Intelligence: why it can matter more than IQ, I genuinely feel that I had been neglecting an entire half of my being in life. I felt as though, in my career but also my personal life, there were all these invisible barriers around me that prevented me from accomplishing what I wanted in my job and personal life. I have always been academically smart, and people have always said I had my head in the clouds and that I didn't have common sense. I've struggled with social anxiety and self motivation. With Goleman's books, I feel like I have a whole new lens for looking at life. I can see how challenges that seemed intractable before to me (but easy to a lot of other people!) were caused not by a lack of this or that piece of information, but from neglecting my emotional maturity and social skills. Thanks to this book, I have a roadmap to challenging and developing myself in the ways that will make my life better. I'm 25 now, and I'm so glad I found these works at this point in my life as I genuinely feel more hopeful about the future now. In conclusion: Recommended!
