The best way for me to review Blazing Saddles is to tell you a little story… I was newly single, had just moved back to the U.S., and was looking for a change. I was tired of the “sporty” and “fresh” scents of body washes and colognes and laundry detergents. While looking for a new cologne or body wash that was more “masculine” and subtle, I came across Outlaw Soaps. The advertising was hilarious and the scents that were described sounded like what I was looking for. $14 seemed steep for 8 oz of body wash, but I knew that I couldn’t find what I was looking for in a brick and mortar in Southwest Georgia. I pulled the trigger and, two days later, I opened a package with a burlap sack containing the Blazing Saddles body wash. I immediately opened the bottle for a whiff and was disappointed that the aroma was so subtle. It smelled like leather as advertised, but it wasn’t a strong scent like you’re used to when you open a bottle of body wash; and it also smelled like plastic. I started to think that this was a misfire. However, I was pleasantly surprised when I actually took a shower and lathered up (others had concerns about the lathering abilities of this soap. I use one of those Axe sponges and had no problems). The scent really activated and I was taken back to a tack house full of saddles and bridles. My bathroom smelled like a western store full of leather goods, and I could smell it on me, too. It was relaxing and nostalgic. Now, it does fade, but apparently not too much… That evening, I went to a local watering hole for a couple of beers. So I’m outside on a picnic table enjoying my cigar and beer and scrolling on my phone. This girl comes out and sits next to me and bums a smoke. Then she says, “oh my god, what cologne are you wearing? It smells amazing.” Well, I wasn’t wearing cologne. All I had done was taken a shower a couple of hours earlier using the new body wash. Outdoors and through smoke, this girl had picked up the scent of this body wash on me. I informed her that I wasn’t wearing any and that it was just soap. She then leans in and smells my neck for a better assessment. As she’s doing this, her friends come outside and she tells them that they need to come smell me. Six girls were now sniffing my arms and neck and “oohing” at the smell of leather, sage, and campfire. Yes, it sounds weird and outlandish, but it happened. No, this was not my intention, but I wasn’t complaining. Well, by the end of the no-longer-lonely night, I had a phone number, some new friend requests, and a strange tale to tell. Needless to say, I only use Outdoor Soaps Blazing Saddles body wash now, and the 8 oz surprisingly lasts longer than I thought it would. I’m always complimented on how I smell and I don’t wear cologne. I purchased a couple more bottles of Blazing Saddles body wash as part of Christmas gifts for both a friend and my brother, and now they only use Outlaw Soaps and have stories of their own. I tried The Gambler, but didn’t like it as much. It’s a sweeter smell, definitely the bourbon/cognac scent. I didn’t really catch any leather or tobacco in there. It was just too sweet for me. To each his own. I’ve just ordered Fire in the Hole body wash, since Blazing Saddles is sold out (there’s a good reason for that), and Blazing Saddles solid cologne. I’ll write some reviews on those once I give them a shot. I can’t recommend these products enough and will spread the word like a missionary to the third world. Give ‘em a shot. You won’t regret it. And if by chance you do, it sounds like Outlaw Soaps will take care of you with a refund or replacement. Yippee ki-yay.

Overall an excellent body wash
Although there is a fair amount of hype/marketing around the scent, this is still a really well made product. After using name brand body wash for a while, my skin kept getting red, irritated and dried out. It’s getting harder to pronounce the chemicals going into them and it’s harder still to know where things are manufactured and if harmful ingredients are being added, like in sunscreens. All natural products like this one are expensive. It’s crafted in the U.S. contains all the good stuff, like shea butter, aloe and various natural oils. The label is clear, honest and straightforward about what I’m putting on my body. It lathers and cleans really well, also it works with my deodorant to keep me smelling good throughout the day. My skin feels softer, not dried out or sticky. There’s no stinging, burning, or irritation, like other body washes that can cause bumps after use, or stinging in my eyes that have been laser corrected. The scent goes on strong but fades after rinsing. It seems to be sandalwood to smell like leather and herbs, like rosemary. There’s a fair amount of hype/marketing going on around scent. It’s not this great scent that will evoke a response from the fairer sex. According to my wife it’s okay, nothing special. I doubt many women would notice, as it’s a light scent. You do need to shake it before use. It goes on strong but leaves a light scent. This body wash is a good force multiplier though on scent, when I use my traditional deodorant, and pairs really nicely with duke cannon after shave. I would say that my softer skin gets more readily noticed by the wife than scent, so much so that she is now looking into other more natural products.

I really REALLY wanted to like this! *UPDATED*
I have been searching for a body wash that fits this type of profile. When I first got the package, I was impressed with all the promo stuff and display. I immediately slapped the sticker on my iPad Pro case, and then picked up the bottle. It was a bit smaller than I expected, but nevertheless impressive labeling and design! The bottle feels fragile, almost like as if it were matted black glass. I love the texture of the dispenser. All in all, this was one hell of a presentation! So then I'll get to the skinny about the body wash. It smells AMAZING! My wife was pretty impressed with it at first, and I was excited about seeing how it matched with my profile. Needless to say, it was a definite match for my kind of body wash. Then the time went by, and I noticed that I wasn't really noticing the scent lasting as long as other brands like "Duke Cannon." I was also noticing how quickly I can go through this! I know it's a smaller bottle, but it's also $14 a pop! A bottle of this will last me almost a month. I just wish it would be a little long lasting, to justify the price and quantity. I really don't want this review to make you think that this product isn't good. I'm just saying for my experience with this product, it wasn't what I wanted it to be. Keep in mind, this is a NATURAL product. Impressive to even say that the ingredients in this stuff is understandable to me! It's a paradigm to say the least! So what is my justification for keeping it a three star review? It's got potential to be a better product for sure! I loved the profile it made on my body, and I know that everyone would agree that it's a damn fine smelling product! I'm just not convinced that it should be in such small quantity for a shorter lasting fragrance, to justify the cost. But I am not completely convinced that I might have just gotten a bum batch! I am going to try the other ones I was interested in, after I go through this other brand that supposedly has a scent of sweet pipe tobacco that everyone is raving about. I will post my reviews once I have tried the product, and hopefully have a better experience with those! I really wanted to make this a four or even five star review! For now, I am giving this product a three star rating. But I am going to definitely suggest giving this body wash a go! You might have a better experience with this that I did? Who knows? I will update this review and my final thoughts on "Outlaw" natural body wash, once I dive into the other scents I wanted to try. Regards... **UPDATE** I went to the local Cracker Barrel to get my usual “A Late One" (Ale 8) ginger ale supply, and I stumbled upon the "Blazing Saddles" body wash. So I thought "might as well give it another shot," and bought it, today. When I brought it home to get ready for a bath, I opened it up to smell the inside. It was LOTION… 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ After the good laugh between my wife and kids, I ended up slapping some lotion on and just gave it a whirl. I normally NEVER use lotion, unless I have really cracked up, dry skin. I have to say, "DAMN! This stuff actually stays around! It didn’t just dissolve after ten minutes of being applied. I was super impressed! My wife was blown away, my dogs noticed it and ran up to lick my arms off, and my 13 year old actually complimented on it, and is now interested in wearing lotion… If you want to have the scent last (especially for the price point being awfully steep!) as long as you expect it to, get the lotion… Trust me, this stuff is an upgrade from that Old Spice crap!

Maybe it should be called the Rambler, for that new car smell.
Always on the hunt for good smelling body was and beard products. Stumbled upon The Gambler accidentally and it met my scent criteria. When the bottle arrived, it came with a thank you note and some cool stickers (throwing in stickers is major bonus points in my book). I discovered at first use the pump would not engage despite all my efforts. In the thank you note was contact information so I reached out with my concern. In less than 12 hours a representative responded with additional instructions and an apology. After trying her suggestions I was still without a pump. No sweat though, she offered to make it right ASAP. BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! This factor alone diserved 4 stars. The smell however is not quite as described. I liken it more to new car smell or a certain *Armor encompassing* car interior cleaner. Which, by the way, isn't all that bad. Expected some more subtle flavors, if you will, based on the description. If you are a washcloth kind of guy this ain't gonna latter real well unless you over do it in the amount. On that loofah thingy it works real well in the lather department. It doesn't seem the scent stays with you very long after a shower but that is why cologne was invented. Good product for the price but the smell is mediocre at best. Based on customer service, I will likely try other products they offer, to see if the scent is better suited.

Shake It
If you don't shake it first you're going to be surprised by the strength of the leather smell and the pure strength of the burning in your nose. If you shake it you'll get a nice combo of bourbon, tobacco smoke, a hint of leather, and other light smells. It's amazing what the change is. The first time I put it on I didn't shake it and I was blown away, worried I'd wasted my money. Thankfully I noted the "shake well" warning (should have read that first) and was much more pleased with the result. The soap lathers up amazingly well. It actually works better at making me feel clean than any soap I've ever bought at the store, which was an unexpected nice side-effect. It goes on strong at first but smooths out quickly and stays around for a very pleasant light scent all day. It seems a little expensive at first glance but because it lathers up so well you don't need to use as much as you would buy at the store. I use a loofah myself and that helps it soap up even more - I'd suggest you do the same but I'm sure a washcloth works just fine. I'm bald so I don't know how it works as a shampoo but I use it in my beard hair and it seems to do a nice job. My wife likes the smell of it in my beard all day afterward.

Reeks of Tea Tree oil
I'll start with the things I liked: -The Packaging was nice :) Okay, now that's out of the way I can talk about the things that weren't executed well at all. I ordered this bottle of body wash on April 17, paid and received a delivery date on the 22nd, I was excited to try this product as I'd been getting tired of the smell of Every Man Jack and wanted to try something new. --- Two days after my original order confirmation, I get an email telling me my order has been delayed til ~~ Apr. 30. I was gonna run out of body wash and would have to wash myself with my shampoo for a couple days by then so I ran out and bought a small bottle of something else to fill the gap. I didn't think much of this, as they're a small company and they claim care goes into every product, I figured I could let it slide. April 27th rolls around and my bottle of body wash is delivered earlier than expected! I open up the little burlap tote, unwrap a nice steel bottle and I'm pleased up until I pop open to top to give it a smell... The soap in the bottle smelled vaguely like a hospital, medicated and sterile, with a heavy overtone of Tea tree oil (Which I can't find at all on the ingredients) I shrug, and pray that maybe water will bring out any hints of sandalwood, gunpowder or sagebrush and I hopped into the shower. What a mistake that was. Before I could even lather the soap all the way onto my washcloth, the fumes assaulted my eyes as if I'd just upended a whole bottle of tea tree oil (which I still can't find on the ingredients, and is extremely hazardous to use around dogs) into my tear ducts... It burned, dear reader, so badly I found myself cursing the whole time I smeared this awful gel across my body, I washed myself about halfway before rinsing and feeling how tacky and dry it had made my skin. I finished my shower with my remaining other body wash and tossed that nice steel bottle right into the trash. What a waste.

Hands Down Worth Every Penny
I originally bought this because it sounded fun and kinda campy. I did not expect to fundamental change what i buy and how i bathe. (alright gushing over on to an actual review) TL/DR: Buy it, don't look back. I love the scent, i personally don't get much of a bourbon hit from the scent but a very strong leather scent that is just perfect. It lingers long enough that i can enjoy it through out the day, but it is soft enough that it does not bother those in my office who are sensitive to fragrance. The gel also doesn't leave my skin feeling tight or tacky like other gels so that is a huge plus. I have tried several of their scents and always find myself returning to the gambler. Some may say 15 for a bottle this sized is a little much but unless you like using 5 dollar Axe body wash or other similar bargain products its gonna match or beat anything you find on the shelf. When i first ordered it limited me to one a customer, but it looks like now Outlaw is deliverable with whole foods for those like me who intend to stock up. Outlaw as a whole make wonderful product, i look forward to trying out more of their products like their solid colognes soon.

Smells like Garden Hose Water/Chemical smell
First off, I want to say that I appreciate the marketing they are going for here, kind of an Americana type marketing effort, but the scent on the Gambler says "Tobacco, Bourbon, Leather" and somehow doesn't have *ANY* of those scent characteristics. What it does smell like, to me anyway, is that taste/smell of water through a garden hose. Reminds me of being a kid, but not in a good way. The other fragrance I tried is "Blazing Saddles" and it has a similar smell with a bit more sage, so it saves it...kinda. If you are like me and was looking for a more of a tobacco fragrance *think Cigars or Pipes, not cigarettes* then try 1821 "Sweet Tobacco". That is an amazing body wash and actually smells like what it says on the label. Not trying to crap on a small business, but I think more emphasis on ingredients that would bring in Tobacco, Leather or Bourbon fragrance would be a step in the right direction for this brand.
