Initial D Omnibus 1 (Vol. 1-2)

Initial D Omnibus Vol. 1 immediately grabbed my attention and never let up, I finished the entire volume in three days! At its core it's a drift racing manga with a shonen slant, but it's also very slice of life and the characters are extremely likable, especially since I had a few street racing friends in the '90s. Being a (wannabe) gearhead is certainly no prerequisite, but for me this manga felt like a nostalgic trip to a bygone era. Another great feature of this omnibus is the glossary, which explains many of the street racing terms and even author insider gags that may go over reader's heads on the first reading. For me, these explanations made the manga much more enjoyable on the second reading. Critiques? Well, the paper stock is flimsy. But this is how print production works, it's an omnibus and you're not getting 400+ pages of manga at this price any other way. If this were a massively oversized (and overpriced) hardcover I may find room to complain, but not with what I'm getting here. If you're looking to dive into some classic manga at an affordable price, Initial D Omnibus Volume 1 is an easy suggestion. I've immediately started on a second reading, something I rarely do with manga. Bring on Volume 2!

The first couple of pages are color pages and the paper quality is like a laminated paper but then it turns to a thin paper which most people don't like. Personally I like the thin paper because that's expected with these 2 in 1 but it's just nice to finally have this series re-release in a better translation and the shadowing is done better. Honestly can't wait for the next omnibus volumes. Did have a slight issue with how it feels, its like the book has air in it. Like it's puffy. Fixed the issue with just putting something heavy on top to flatten it.

I absolutely love everything intial-d. The story is amazing and well thought-out. If you're into cars, specifically JDM this will be a great read

First off, I am so happy that this is being printed. Initial D is one of my very favorite anime series and now indulging myself into the manga, I can assume that this will quickly rise to my favorite manga series as well. This covers the first two original tankōbon volumes, from the beginning of just getting to meet Takumi, until he is about to face up against a GTR! This is certainly now the most cost effective way to collect the manga, however Kodansha bringing this classic (hopefully fully this time) to America, is not without some faults. As far as my First Print issue, there are some typos, there are some ink errors, it's not perfect, but it is here and it is great. These omnibuses look great and I'm am totally set on collecting the rest of the series!

El manga llegó bien empacado, el embajale pudo ser mejor pero llegó bien, ahora, el manga llegó con las esquinas dobladas, lomo golpeado entre otros detalles similares, eso me da a entender que el problema no fue el embalaje, sino el producto desde bodega ya estaba dañado. Si no te molestan estos detalles, dale sin miedo, pero si eres un coleccionista de mangas y te gusta recibir tus productos sin golpes, rayaduras o detalles, no te lo recomiendo.

Used to read scanlations of Initial D a decade back - so I’m glad to get an omnibus with two volumes. The packaging was good, the book arrived in good condition. Looking forward to the other omnibuses as they release
