Copycat VHS

First, Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunt are so amazing in this, both wonderful actresses at the top of their games. Check out the set of her apartment: multiple levels, dim lighting, translucent curtains. It's reflecting the muliple layers and mystery of the mind, of both the agoraphobic and serial killer. Beyond having two female heroes, it allows there to be a hint of romance but no actual romance, both very unusual approaches in the Hollywood realm. A crime story with intelligence. Highly recommended!

very good, happy with purchase

This has GOT to be one of, if not THE, most terribly frightening crime/suspense/murder-mystery movies EVER created bar none! Sigourney Weaver stars as a psychiatrist who specializes in the analysis of serial killers, and Holly Hunter stars as the policewoman, who together with Sigourney Weaver, is trying to track down a modern serial killer who replicates the particular, unique characteristics of killings previously committed by notorious/famous serial killers who have been apprehended in the recent past. (You will no doubt recognize the names of some of them.) While there is some violence (not to be entirely unexpected), it is not gory, inappropriate, or gratuitous, and you will not have to worry or even be concerned that you will lose your most recent meal when it occurs. Actually, given the subject matter/plot of this movie, there is very little violence or even fisticuffs to speak of, so if you are looking for exciting heavy-breathing-inducing bloody-and-gory murder scenes, this movie is not for you. BTW: If in the fervently unwished for event that you foolishly decide to NOT heed/ignore my WARNING as stated in the headline: I hereby assure you, that you will spend the ENTIRE rest of your evening and/or night, sitting wide-eyed, bolt upright on a chair in your living-room clutching a baseball bat, with every single light, including those in any/all walk-in closet(s), in your entire house turned on, and don't say that I didn't warn you ahead of time -- you asked for it! Also BTW: The "Subtitles" are turned-on BY DEFAULT, so be sure to turn them off right at the start of the movie otherwise they are very distracting.

"Copycat" is a Thriller/Mystery rated R with a budget of $20 million it made $79 million. It's a very good movie with excellent performances by Sigourney Weaver, Holly Hunter, and Harry Connick Jr. (who you might not even recognize). I liked this movie. It grabbed my attention from the start and held it to the end. Sigourney Weaver's character is a psychologist who studies serial killers. Now she's had a nervous breakdown from being attacked and barely surviving, paralyzed with agoraphobia. She's agreed to help the police solve a string of serial killer murders in San Francisco, but her anxiety and substance abuse are huge obstacles. All the characters were two dimensional, Holly Hunter's character stood out as the only competent one working on solving the case. The murders are copycats of other serial killers. 4 Stars.

I think Copycat came before a lot of similar crime shows on TV, and this movie was lost in the shuffle of copies that came after it. This is the best one though. Knockout cast with some surprise performances from Harry Connick, Jr. (who was considered a heart throb singing star at the time) William McNamara (who looks like a copy Tom Cruise in this) and Holly Hunter as a small but determined police detective. Looks like it actually was shot on location in San Francisco, even the police pursuit. Sigourney Weaver is convincing and wonderful in her part which must have been tough on her physically. She plays an agoraphobic, alcoholic and pill popping forensic psychology teacher and writer and the target of not one but two serial killers' attention. You see, one of them attacked her and got put away. The other, well you'll see what happens to him. The movie is fast paced and very scary in places if you are creeped out by being stalked or killers invading your home. Or creepy digital things -- yes it was dipping its toe in as early as that). Which most people are I guess! The music was well chosen, especially Murder By Numbers by the Police. Great thriller.

I saw this when it came out and It lead me to Harry Conick Jr who is the only Jazz musician I can stand. The movie itself is dated, but still good. I love the actors and actresses in it, and it's a fun time. I love some of the accuracy, but theres a lot of inaccuracies too. I always enjoy it when I watch it

Like watching older movies. Some older movies are better than new ones. Very good cast in this movie.

This movie rocks ! Sigourney Weaver is great in this movie alongside Holly Hunter! Put it this way a guy goes around killing people the same ways monsters like jeffrey dahmer and ted bundy did but with that you have a great cast of actors who really go great together now i will admit the killer is not scary but i think the basis of the movie didnt need that factor cause their was so much more going on so it will keep you on the edge of your seat but if your looking for gruesome get a rob zombie film this is a thriller action mystery film! ORDER AND ENJOY !
