A Timeless Gothic Masterpiece in a Stunning Edition
Bram Stoker’s Dracula is the quintessential Gothic horror novel chilling, atmospheric, and utterly gripping from start to finish. This novel remains just as compelling today as it did when first published, drawing you into a dark and suspenseful tale of terror, mystery and the supernatural. Told through a series of letters, diary entries and newspaper clippings, Dracula masterfully builds tension as Jonathan Harker, Mina and Lucy, Dr. Van Helsing, and their companions confront the enigmatic and sinister Count Dracula. Stoker’s story crafting is nothing short of genius. This Clothbound Classics edition is a must have for both collectors and first time readers alike. The clothbound cover is elegant and beautifully crafted, making it a classy addition to any collection. Whether you are revisiting this Gothic masterpiece or discovering it for the first time, this edition offers the perfect way to experience one of the most influential horror novels ever written. A true classic in every sense.

'Welcome to my house ' . .
Read it for the Novel and the useful Chapter Notes. It is a handsomely produced artefact, well printed. Ignore the Preface and Introduction, which are the usual Socio-Political impositions by 'Academics' who should never be allowed anywhere near 19th century Gothic Literature. It simply gives them the opportunity to spout irrelevantly about Gender Rôles, Colonialism, Immigration, Christian Morality blahblahblah. Am currently reading the 19th Century Vampire Anthology 'Dracula's Guest', compiled by the American Michael Sims. He shows how it should be done, and explains the roots of Stoker's 'Dracula' far more effectively than the Penguin Scholars do without it even being 'Dracula', with a better writing style and with much broader terms of reference, including a scientific background and most importantly a true love of the Gothic genre in and of itself, and not as some Freudian metaphor for the Victorian suppression of sexuality or whatever -

Good storytelling but in a form that won't suit everyone
Horror fans and scholars are going to scoff at a slightly damning review of a beloved classic, but it's an honest review for a modern audience. It is classic so worth a read, but it has dated and for a modern reader like myself, and it's not the smoothest of reads. The difficult part is the format. Told in a series of diary entries and letters, there's a fair bit of back and forth with detail that isn't always relevant to the plot. It's easy to follow but is slow and not that exciting. The language used is a little dated with plenty of 'I shall....' and 'Oh Mina dear...'. You do get used to it after a while but it takes some adjusting. It is still a good read but, not great.

Bram Stoker’s ‘Dracula’ has been reprinted countless times: it is a wonderful story and rightfully a timeless gothic classic. The trick is finding a good version of the book. This edition is the best-quality for price I have found. It provides, in beautiful canvas-bound hardcover, a reprinting of the 1897 first edition, as opposed to the abridged 1901 edition (there are only these two official ‘Dracula’ versions in circulation). This means you are getting the complete Dracula story as first experienced by Victorian readers (not the condensed version Stoker prepared in 1901 which omitted certain scenes). Only minor typographical corrections have been made so that the manuscript fits the Penguin Classics style guide, and certain errors that were made in the 1897 printing have been fixed (four incorrectly listed dates in crucial diary entries, and one misspelled word). For the price point, this is as close to an original edition as a reader can come.

the book came with odd specks of white dots, as if a bit dirty -- and although it is barely visible it was something i focused on the first time i laid my eyes on it. otherwise it's a nice copy of a beautiful story
