Great book to start calculus

I am a science geek and I love maths; I'm currently doing an Open University course as part of my mid-life crisis, and bought this book to boost my calculus skills, which it has done; I knew the principles but needed hundreds of examples to practise on, and this book delivers by the sackful. It only fails on the fifth star because it is American and contains a few examples which use feet and inches; as far as I am concerned feet are things you walk on, and inches are only used by men to describe their..... you know what's. It's still worth buying this book though; doing hundreds of questions is the only real way to cement your maths skills. And by the way American friends, its 'maths', not 'math'.

I got this book after completing a calculus course at my college because I wanted to keep my skills up and do practice problems throughout my college career! As always, This "For Dummies" book breaks concepts down into easily-understandable steps!

Excellent resource for calculus problems. My daughter is using it, on her own, to accompany her advanced high school math class and is finding the book indispensable.

Never listen to those who said math is hard

A LIFE SAVER FOR MY HIGH SCHOOL SENIOR'S LIFE! Seriously - my son is taking Calc 1 and Calc 2 as a HS Senior.. hoping to knock these two college classes out of the way, among other college classes... the only one he has struggled with is Calc 1... The book has helped him immensely in getting over his mental block on derivatives.. this helped him through it. For Calc 2 I heard mixed reviews - but for what he needed it for - it was perfect.
