These are a solid option for converting road pedals into flats. The other reviews mentioning how the side of the pedal these are mounted on will always flip downwards, such that these adapters face the pavement, are true. But the convenience factor outweighs that by a mile! In my experience, at least. If your route demands lots of stops and starts it might aggravate you more. Build quality is pretty good. For me, they're dead simple to clip in and take out with my bare hands. The best way to remove the adapters is to manually pull the rearmost side of the SPD-SL mechanism down towards the ground, then simply lift the adapter up and out.

I use my one bike for pretty much everything, so having the pedal plates to "go casual" on a ride is super convenient. You don't necessarily need tools to remove the plate from an SPD-SL pedal, rather enough strength and pulling at an unclipping angle to release the plate. The traction is pretty good for the size of the plate, too.

Pour ce faire, la clé allen (ou hexagonale) dont j’ai eu besoin est de taille 2,5mm. Il exige des kits de 10 clés pour 5€ en magasin de bricolage. La petite clé allen se range sans souci dans les petites poches sous selle avec les kits de première réparation, pas un souci à transporter donc. En somme, super produit!

Easy installation, performs as advertised. Since the pedal rests upside down due to the weight of the pedal plate, the pedal must be flipped up to engage the surface and the pedal. The serrated surface of the plate provides decent traction with a good mountain bike shoe.
