Nomex Thread - 40 Yards (Royal Blue)

This was a great economical purchase! Thank you Profox! This is a bobin with 40 yards of DuPont Nomex thread and the right amount for my project. I paid $9 versus spending $40+ for large spool offered elsewhere on Amazon. I used this to hand sew a Coleman Stove Top Camp Oven insulating cover out of a Tillman Welding Blanket. I needed just enough to sew two 12 inch seams. It worked well. It didn't melt when using the oven on top of the stove. I had plenty of both left over to create a coffee pot cover. I should still have enough thread to make a smoker cover. If you have a small project this is great to use! I'm so glad this was available.

Purchased this thread to sew patches onto my race suit. It can be hard to get nomex fibers in small quantities like this. While testing it, I was surprised by how easily it caught fire. After 10 minutes of research I learned that Nomex (meta aramid) thread is expected to burn, but is expected to self-extinguish. And this thread does self-extinguish very quickly once the thread is removed from the flame source.

Saved money on great quality product. I have been searching for strong nomex FR thread for months. I needed to repair Nomex racing suit and nomex work uniform/coverall but did NOT want to spend $55 on a big Nomex cone which was way too much thread for my few repairs. Found this profox nomex thread on Amazon and saved A BUNCH OF money! Thread came quickly and I repaired more than a few flame resistant/fire resistant garments including racing underwear, FR gloves from work, and even a friends racing jacket. Thread is strong and great quality. I have tried other brands that shed a lot of fiber dust in the machine, not this product it worked very well is strong great quality and held up to all of my sewing needs. Highly recommended product. It's difficult to find Nomex thread in less than a whole spool, which is expensive, so this is a good alternative if you only need a small amount. It comes wound on a bobbin, and is not a full bobbin at that. I do repairs and alterations on garments and though I do a lot of work on firemen's coats in the gold color, I seldom need black Nomex thread. I had a customer from a racing team bring me an FR (fire retardant) garment that was black and in need of seam repair. It was great to be able to buy just enough for the job and not have to shell out 50 bucks or more for thread that I might never use again. I passed the cost of this 40 yards on to my customer.

Needed to repair my husband's racing fire suit. Just what I needed. I was hoping it came in off-white, which is the color of the area I was repairing, but the tan blended in enough so as not to be noticed. Did the job!
