Easy set it and forget it 3-in-1 device
The TP‑Link ER7212PC Omada router combines router, PoE+ switch, and Omada SDN controller into a clean compact appliance ideal for home or small business use. Setup felt intuitive and most features delivered reliable performance. The integrated PoE switch offers eight ports with a 110 W budget which simplifies powering cameras or access points. Multiple WAN options including SFP make it flexible for diverse networks. Performance wise it handled routine routing and VPN duties well. Strong support for VPN types including OpenVPN and Wireguard made it easy to configure secure remote access. The web interface is sluggish and reboot times are slow after firmware updates. Also performing complex tasks can take a while too due to the processor speed. Reliability hasn’t been ann issue. Mostly a set it and forget it router. Mine has been running for over eighty days without issue while continuing to fine tune settings. Pros • Clean all‑in‑one format combining router PoE+ switch and controller • Generous PoE power and WAN choices including SFP • Easy SDN management with cloud app • VPN friendly with strong multi protocol support Cons • Web UI and reboot can be slow • Controller CPU may struggle under heavy config • All‑in‑one failure impacts entire network In short, the ER7212PC offers a compelling space saving solution for small installations needing unified control. It is especially effective when simplicity and central management matter more than raw processing speed. With recent firmware maturing its feature set it stands closer to TP‑Link’s flagship gear. Just know it may not satisfy users requiring ultra fast UI or enterprise grade port control.

Plug-and-Play Router
Perfect for those that are not too tech savvy because this is plug-and-play device. Doesn't allow for advance customizations, but it is very simple to setup and hook up multiple WiFi hotspots and ethernet connections throughout the house.

Lots of limitations if you want true network isolation
Be aware that this is not an enterprise grade product. UI is super confusing and half of the features on the controller UI do not work or can only be implemented partially. For example, ACLs on Gateway on LAN to LAN can ONLY be applied on the network level no IP Groups etc. Switch ACLs are shown in the UI but cant be implemented with the built in switch.... If you want VLAN isolation its painfull as you have to create terrible workarounds for the LAN to LAN limitations and the very basic switch functionallity provided. UI is super slow and its apparent that thr 3 in 1 device is underpowered in terms of processing speed ram etc.... That being said if you have a basic Network setup this might work for you but dont expect this setup to be super flexible or "tunable" like an enterprise grade system....

Simply awful. Avoid. Use other Omada devices. Read the review.
I love the Omada ecosysem. It's been improving steadily since it was released several years ago. I thought this 3-in-one device would replace the need for a separate controller, router, and POE switch in a new location. While it can, you won't likely be happy with the result. First off, it takes between 8 and 15 minutes to boot. And it has to reboot ALL THE TIME. Change a setting, reboot. And once in a while it just doesn't start back up. It starts blinking it's lights but you think "did I wait the full 15 minutes it might take?", so you wait 30 just to be sure and you find it's not responding to anything on the LAN ports. Reboot. Wait 30 minutes, "did it work this time?" - if not, hard reset. And when it does work the UI is slow as molasses. And now for the missing features. Sure, it's a router, but it doesn't have half of the features you get with the lowest-end ER605 that costs $65. No DPI, no bunch of other features. Then there is the controller: Stuck on the 5.8 feature set, a full 5 versions behind the $100 OC200 controller. Want to backup your config? Not enough memory onboard and no USB port, so you are going to have to fire up an FTP server just to be able to make a backup just in case your config goes bad. It's a POE switch too, but not in any sense a smart managed switch. It's just ports and while it *technically* supports VLANS, it is the most bare-bone implementation that is a nightmare to configure. Not even close to a the lowest end Jetstream. For less money you can get an OC200, ER605, basic POE switch and be far, far happier with the result.

Nice Router
Easy setup, nice features and fixed my speed issues. I paired 4 APs to it as well. I’m also using it for failover WAN and that works as expected without a complicated configuration.

Good Quality Product
Works really good. The only reason I didn't give this five stars is because it was a little complicated to install. I have a greadson who is in IT and he got it up and running within an hour. After that it has been great. Even so, i like this better than any Netgear product that I have had. I would definitely recommend this for your home internet system.

This covered everything I needed for a new build
This model covered everything I needed for a new network project. Once I realized this unit had the Omada Controller built in, it was an obvious choice. This network also needed four POE for new AP's, so again a good fit. So far so good with this one.

Perfect for a small office
I have had zero issues with this device. It does everything it says it will. PoE works as intended. Network speeds are as expected. If you already know about omada, this will practically be plug-and-play.

The TP-Link 3-in-1 router's boot time is excessively slow, which becomes particularly frustrating during reboots or recoveries from power outages. The more devices connected, like access points or switches, and the more firewall policies/rules implemented, the slower it restarts. In my experience, with two Omada Access Points and one Omada Switch connected, the boot process extended beyond ten minutes—an unacceptably long delay. Moreover, the user interface (UI) is sluggish, even when accessed locally. While the device functions adequately once operational, the slow UI and prolonged boot times can be significant drawbacks. Additionally, many configuration adjustments necessitate reboots, adding to the overall inconvenience. Prospective buyers should be aware that despite their capabilities, these devices fall short in performance and professional standards. They are not suitable for scenarios requiring frequent adjustments or reboots. My advice would be to keep the unit powered on and minimize interactions with the UI to avoid the painfully slow response reminiscent of early internet speeds. Overall, the performance has been disappointing enough that I am returning all related equipment.

Decent device with a GLARING flaw. You cannot assign the device switch ports in VLANS. Big issue for me so I had to return. If you don't need VLAN's then this is fine. You can use VLAN's if you get another Omada Jetstream switch but this device in and of itself cannot do VLAN's on the device's ports. :(

Device is not designed to work on commercial or enterprise networks. It can only manage 2 switches and 10 APs, the layout of the controller gui is horrid and missing basic fundamental actions. Omada support informed me that the device was only supposed to be used in small systems like 7-11s and couldn't handle anything larger. The on device storage is minimal and the logs filled what was available after a week of running. Absolute crap, go with Ubiquiti instead for anything more abundant that basic residential networks.

Wasted months trying to get this thing working properly. Nothing but issues - dropped connections, lag , certain apps not working, roaming not working. Sold it for next to nothing g along with 4x eap235 aps. switched to ubiquiti and it's a night and day difference- far better signal, no lag, better roaming, easier setup. Stay away!!!

Despite the advertising claims, the internal switch functionality is not available in Omada. This is an Omada controller + router ONLY.
