I ordered 3 of the 12' Extend-A-Reach poles. When they arrived the boxes were a little beat up but the poles looked to be in good condition. Two poles worked great. One pole had a part break shortly after I first extended it. I believe it was due to the carrier (by the looks of the box). I sent a message to E-A-R letting them know. This was over the Independence Day holiday so I didn't expect an answer for a week or so. I get a message from Kate shortly after I sent the message. She let me know that E-A-R would replace the pole and make it right ASAP. I recieved my pole a few days later. She also messages me to ensure the new pole arrived damage free. If you are looking for a company with good customer service Extend-A-Reach will have you covered. There are plenty of reviews on here that tell you just how good these poles are so I wont talk too long on that. I haven't had a chance to use mine much but when I did use them they were very strong at pushing and pulling at 8'. I played around a little with them at 12' but I don't see using that extra length very often. If you are deciding between Extend-A-Reach or another brand just buy this one. You will be happy you did. As a side note (because I couldn't find the information) the diameter of the base of the pole is 1.25". In case you are wanting to buy pole holders for storage.

I got this Friday night and the next day I saw how strong and capable this boat hook is. I came into dock on a finger float, came in a little too fast and I grabbed this boat hook and fully extended it. The boat kept going forward and pulled the boat hook ( actually I let go hoping it wouldn't break) out of my hand. I put the hook in the dock cleat hoping I could stop the boat if I held on tight , but I couldn't hold the handle anymore and I just let it go and it fell in the water. I held pretty tight and exterted a lot of force on the handle and it held nice and firm until I let go. It floated when it fell in the water. Nice sturdy boat hook that'll probably last for many years assuming no saltwater corrosion . You can use this and attach a brush to wash cars, windows, etc. so much better than a single purpose boat hook. About the same price as a single purpose boat hook. It looks really cool as well.

Works as advertised. Solid quality. got a kick out of the instructions stating read "berofe" using. Operates nicely, extends easily and its quite sturdy. Not too heavy so it's easy to maneuver while extended. Grip is solid and comfortable and it's pretty stable.

I’m the envy at the marina. Works like a champ. Sturdy and easy to extend/retract.

The second extension does not lock. It slides closed when the pole is pressing on an item. Update: The seller saw my 1 star review and immediately contacted me to offer a full refund! I did not expect this at all! That is amazing customer service securing trust that if the product does not operate correctly, they will make it right! It's obvious they have confidence in their products! This changes my review and trust in the company!

Seriously, this Extend-A-Reach boat hook has been way more useful than I even expected. Docking the boat is so much easier now with that extra reach – no more leaning way out and almost falling in! Plus, it's not huge and clunky, so storing it isn't a pain. Feels pretty solid in your hand, and the fact that it floats is really handy. The funny thing is, I even used it the other day to help hang some string lights in the backyard. Who knew? Definitely a good buy if you're around the water, and maybe even if you're not!

Easy to use and extend, I use to hang bird feeder out of bear reach. Stores compact and is lightweight.
