Old, bulky and unstable
Software is old. Cable is from the early 2000s, Mini USB (pre USB A). Saving on SD Card doesn't work. Buttons are bulky and the most annoying thing is that negatives are not always captured. Its either blurred out or the screen becomes orange. Not recommending at all.

I have used this scanner to scan 965 Pictures. With a minor adjustment to the carrier I was able to slide the negatives through the machine without changing carrier insert which increased the speed of reader dramatically. Does a really nice job.

Works as described. I’ve used it a while and it’s been great. It doesn’t help convert negatives to color. You could maybe do the manual colors and get it working but that’s a lot I don’t know. But if you plan to transfer to computer it’s great. It has adjustments in the manual slide holder. Then use the computer to conver and turn the right direction. It has manual direction changers but it’s better to post in computer. This is the one to buy. And buy the slide holders extra for slides. It holds on the right position to center to take the photos. The SD works great and then transfer is easy to computer. Good quality as well. Feels solid. Sturdy and stays where you put it. It also doesn’t bump easy. Easy on and off. Easy to get through the menu. Will make these slides easy to convert. Have thousands to do. Edit. This thing does so much more. The setting is where it’s at. Had to find them but when I got it right it will do a lot of things. No need for external software. Just took me a while to learn the machine. It will convert to negative as well so if ya have slides you can convert. Did the first 1000 slides to negative and back. Before I found the right setting to just project. :) great unit.

This product is amazing. It is SO easy to use, I was able to get started right away. The color balance is absolutely wonderful, the picture quality is exquisite for archiving or transferring for further post-production edits, and I love that the control buttons are large (less tensile stress for back to back scannings). 10/10, I can't recommend this product enough for preserving and digitizing personal and family memories and for hobbyist archivists. While I am working on digitizing slides primarily, it also handles negative strips I've tested beautifully as well.

This is an excellent product, easy to set up and use, with great results. I had previously tried scanning old slides with an Ion “slides forever” device, but the quality was terrible because of low resolution. This Magnasonic is more expensive but there’s no contest when it comes to quality. The resulting images are clear and bright. You have to feed slides manually but it’s quick and easy - each slide pushes the previous one out the other side. Exposure or colour can be adjusted when (rarely) needed, though not in detail. The device has a very small internal memory so it’s advisable to buy some standard SD cards for bulk processing. Important note: it will only work with lower capacity cards - 2GB recommended (which will hold a few hundred images). Files can be transferred to computer via card reader or direct from the device. No software needed.
