NOW Foods Supplements, Beef Gelatin 550 mg, Hydrolyzed, Nutritional Support, 200 Capsules

I came across a website blog that extolled the virtues of gelatin for your skin, hair, nails, and weight loss. Hmmm, interesting. (the website is called Hold The Toast by Dana Carpenter, you can Google it.) Buying it from the NOW brand on Amazon seemed to be the best value unless you buy the bag of powder which on Amazon comes in a 5 lbs bag. It is hard to judge exactly what the benefit manifestations are for me, I will say that. Is my skin less wrinkled? My nails stronger? Hair stronger or more of it? I cannot honestly say. The above website mentions amino acids and natural HGH production. I am at this writing 55. I have been taking this product for about 10 months and the biggest and possibly only noticeable improvement that I had was my skin was definitely softer and smoother. However my experience has been that most natural supplements take a while to build up and give benefit in your body. At 55 years of age, there is no magic pill to reverse the damage age and gravity does to your collagen production. So I'll take whatever help I can get and this does help is my determination. For general health benefits, you might be better off buying organic raw soup bones and simmering them in a big pot and using the stock for cooking. To get a proper dosage of these capsules I take 4 a night. I could probably double that.

I bought these because I had read that gelatin could help your joints. I have been taking for almost a month and I can definitely say I have noticed a difference in my bad knee. The dose is 4 capsules and after reading other reviews I started with only two capsules for a few days and then increased to 4. After another week or so I backed off again to only 2 capsules daily because of some bloating. So far this seems to be the best dose for me.

My body has a hard time digesting collagen but gelatin is fine. I take every evening and I have the best bm's the next morning. Seriously better than I have had for years. That has been the biggest change since taking these. Next biggest change is no more knee pain!

I have severe arthritis pain in both knees. I have tried everything for pain that is OTC. I can't take shots in the knees because my blood sugar goes way high and it also doesn't work. I decided to try gelatin because I hear the amino acids are good for joints. I took as directed, two pills in the morning and two in the evening. The next day, I was amazed! That biting, angry pain I usually have was gone. Truly a miracle. The next, I take as usual but now I'm experiencing some side effects. Bloating, like my pants don't fit; weight gain; upset stomach; and a weird pressure in the middle of my chest. I was so disappointed. I decided to just start with one a day but still, I get the symptoms. I wish there was some way of taking this without the side effects because this was really working for me but I can't take this awful bloating feeling.

I guess they are working but who can tell. No taste or smell and capsules are easy to take
