Does anyone know how these packets work?  Do the silverfish just have to get near them and they die or do they have to feed on them or what??  Thanks!

Silverfish eat paper, among other things.  They stay in dark places and are attracted to dampness.  The contents in the envelopes kills the silverfish.  We noticed a remarkable difference in our house when we put these packets out.  Place them in closets against the walls, in corners in rooms, under bookcases, in your basement, behind furniture, etc.  Check for awhile to get a good price.  It is worth trying this product.  It is certainly safer than putting powders out.  Hope this helps.

Is this product odorless?

It has no odor.  I have waited to review this product to see if it worked.  All I can say is I haven't seen a silverfish since I put these aound my house.

Both Diatomaceous Earth (DE - which contains the tiny, fossilized, sharp edged shells or silicate cell-walls of ancient diatoms, single celled marine creatures) and Boric Acid (BA - a weak acid compound derived from borax) in crystallized form are not very poisonous to us. Instead the insects' shells are scored by DE which also, along with BA, is not safe for THEM to EAT (as I understand it). Either way, when they eat the baits the silverfish soon die.

They usually are attracted to dark, dank places which have or are near what they like to eat. What they often eat or places they habituate include:
* Starch (found in some clothing and foods and esp. in wallpaper paste)
* Some types of cloth
* Wallpapers 
* Carpet
* Dry foods
* Paper
* Boxes
* Other substances containing cellulose
* Attic Insulation
* Light fixtures
* Electrical outlets
* Behind Refrigerators and Ovens
* Inside walls
* Behind and under furniture
* Underneath siding, etc.

For me, because I don't go to many dank places or small crevices, they are usually found on a wall. But I think they don't go on walls often. More often I see their scat on counters, but a lot of people find sign of them in drawers and other places where clothing or books are kept. They're not much attracted by eBooks.

You can spread BA or DE at points of traverse or egress, especially near books and other paper, points where they've been seen or where they might enter a house or where they likely hide. Both DE & BA are powder- or dust-like. Neither is particularly dangerous to touch, for us, but should not be eaten, and don't get either in your eyes. There may be a little contact danger for some pets, but again, neither is particularly toxic to mammals. By putting either out in bulk form, you'd be adding dust to your environment. In this way, despite the exorbitant price, the baits (which contain BA) are convenient, usually effective to a degree, and very much neater than spreading dust, powder or crystals on your floor, along walls, at the corners of doorways, in or near crevices, etc.

When I put out baits of any kind, I always mark [yyyy.mm], year and month, on them with a Sharpie™ or other indelible marker, then let them sit a day before setting them out so the smell of the ink dissipates. At your replacement interval you can tell when they've been set out, and that -may- help give a rough idea of their effectiveness - seen these insects or other sign of their presence? Fewer? More??

Production description said that 2 oz is for 100 square feet? then, should I purchase 10 packs of it for my 100 square feet space??
