Black Bulkhead Light Fitting

This is an awesome light for the money! You can modify it very easily to suit your needs. I have mounted mine horizontally on the side of my garage to illuminate the side passage. The unit is all polycarbonate so nice and tough without being heavy. Its fully waterproof with no cable entry or mounting holes (you add these yourself depending on your requirements). I opted to bring the mains into the unit by using a black M20 waterproof cable gland. You can easily drill out the hole by the wire connection block and add the cable gland, this keeps the unit watertight. To fit to the wall the rear of the unit has 4 domed "feet" which i drilled through to use as mounting holes. This means the domes are tight to the wall and once up a dab of silicone on the screw heads again keep the unit waterproof. Wiring up is very simple - just the 3 wires. The brass lamp holder feels solid and takes a standard bayonet lamp. I installed a phillips 11w energy saving lamp which is quite large but there is plenty of room. Personally i would stick to an energy saver or LED lamp as with the unit being plastic a high powered lamp generating a lot of heat (which cant escape) would damage it. Overall i am extremely pleased with this and being on an exposed wall it will take a beating from the elements so im hoping it holds out!

These bulkhead lights are of good quality and easy to fit, only give 4 stars as they seem to require a touch of sealant around the light cover had a few showers of heavy rain but they seem water tight up to now.

This light unit seems reasonably substantial, with the base part being reasonably thick plastic. The unit is held off the wall by its moulded-in feet, and you have to drill through these in order to get mounting holes. Although, in theory, water could seep in through these mounting holes, the screw heads of normal 4mm screws tighten into the inner ends of the mounting depressions, which then appear to make a good seal with the plastic (time will tell). In line with good practice, the cable entry is at the bottom of the unit, and a rubber grommet is supplied (actually, two were supplied with mine). You have to cut out a 25mm hole in order to fit the grommet, as the apparent press-out circle could not be pressed out. A 25mm hole saw was used for this. Wiring up is easy, as a "chocolate block" connector is provided, fixed in place with two screws (good). Fitting the cover was the most difficult part, actually, as screwing the base to a brick wall had distorted the base very slightly. So care was needed to ensure the cover married up correctly with the seal, and that the retaining screws were tightened sufficiently to compress the seal properly (ie so that the edge of the cover actually touched the base all round. All the above sounds complicated but anyone with a little DIY skill could fit this light.

Easy to install and looks good.

I ordered 1 of these fittings to light the path around my home.Found to be very good quality and quite a good size.easy to fix and wire up so ordered a second one.very satified with the purchases,good price also.They have beed fitted and working for some time now with no problems.

Excellent light but may need an electrician to fix.

Had these before and work well and good value

Bought to replace a similar one. Looks great in the outdoor porch. Easy to install.
