Excellent Mouse!
I’ve owned many, many mice over the years, from high end to low end. All of which have felt either slightly too large or slightly too small. And over the last year I’ve been using a TeckNet Classic 2.4g Wireless Mouse (a very nice overall mouse). Although I find the TeckNet to be a good mouse for 8 hours per day of business use, the “too-small” feeling was something I could not get over. Enter the Microsoft Surface Mouse. After carefully studying wireless and Bluetooth mice for about 2 weeks, and buying and returning some that I did not like (again, too big or too small) I splurged on this expensive mouse. I’ve been using it for several days, 8 to 10 hours per day, and can make a fair review based on this. What I like • The size of the mouse is absolutely perfect for my medium sized right hand. • The shape of the mouse is very comfortable, and seems very ergonomic to use. Frankly, the most comfortable I’ve ever used. • The forward and back side buttons are very well placed and I haven’t made any accidental clicks on them. • There’s a convenient center side button that defaults to Task View. I like this feature a lot as I always have 4 to 5 programs open at a time and this saves me from moving the mouse to the task bar to enter this view. • The scroll wheel is extremely comfortable, and the smoothest I’ve ever used. Pressing the small button behind the scroll wheel allows you to go from fast scrolling to a more controlled scrolling approach. I highly like the feel and functionality of this wheel. • I do not find myself reaching with my fingers or twisting/curling my hand to use this mouse. For a medium to large hand, I think it’s a perfect layout. • Bluetooth works perfectly for me (I have a Surface Pro 4 computer) without any lag in response time whatsoever. • The neoprene (at least that’s what it feels like) thumb rest area feels great and very comfortable. In terms of what I don’t like, I can only complain about one thing. The scroll wheel cannot be tilted left or right like some other high-end mice that I’ve owned, such as the Logitech VX Revolution Laser mouse. This feature is very useful in working in spreadsheets. That said, I still love the mouse and I’m sure I’ll be using it for years to come. ** Update on 12/5/18. Still using this mouse as my everyday workhorse and still love it! I bought a new Microsoft Surface Laptop 2 and the mouse connected to is immediately, and it works the same or better than my SP4. Battery live is amazing too. I'm buying another one to use at home since I love it so much. What a great device by Microsoft! ** Update 1/9/19: Still loving this mouse! No functional changes at all and battery life remains fantastic. I only have 1 complaint however. If you look at my photo you’ll see that the mouse has started to change colors from use. I would prefer an option to buy this in black as I suspected this would happen over time. That said, I would not hesitate to buy this mouse again.

Best Mouse I've Ever Used
I had previously purchased a Microsoft mouse that resembles the Apple Magic Mouse. The mouse was fine except that it was too small for my hand. My hand literally draped over the mouse which made it very difficult to use. I read numerous reviews on this mouse and a competitive more traditional looking mouse that sold for $20 more. The cost wasn't the issue, I just felt the ergonomic design of this mouse might make a difference for me personally. And was I ever right! This is the most comfortable mouse I've ever owned. My hand sits in such a way that my fingers are right were the scroll wheel is .. which is perfect for using the wheel. My right thumb sits in the crease of the left side of the mouse exactly where it should be. The three side buttons are easily within reach of my thumb. The angle of the mouse top is perfect in terms of comfort and how my hand rests as well. In terms of build quality, the sides are made of a rubbery material that grips nicely and the top is a smooth plastic that looks and feels high quality. No issues here with the build quality or the heft of the mouse. This is not the lightest mouse I've ever used, but without question its the best mouse I've ever used. Clicking the right and left buttons is basically noise free. You can hear a slight click, but nothing annoying by any means. I won't get into all the customization you can do with the mouse and the Microsoft software that you have access to. I use the mouse with one laptop and that's it. So, my concerns are connectivity and comfort. Not if it will work with multiple devices, which this does. In terms of connectivity, I have used the supplied USB cable for a wired experience and have used it without a cable. No dongle required for straight Bluetooth connection to the computer. Either way, the mouse is highly responsive ... the wired connection seems to be just a slightly more responsive, but not enough to make any real difference in my opinion. So, I'm sticking to wireless for now. All I can say, without getting into the technical details of the mouse, is that for your average user such as myself, this is a terrific option and one I would highly recommend. I give it 10 out of 10 stars!

Outstanding!
Bought it to operate on 2 computers from the comfort of my Barcolounger. The mouse solves the 2 mouse problem. I've been buying the same inexpensive nub-less mouse design for over a decade. I stretched a bit here but this mouse does the job of two. MS has done a great job with the overall design and quality. This is like a wireless CAD mouse (as I recall from 20 years ago). Super accurate. More control. Terrific ergonomics. I love it. Much better than expected.

Update - Redeemed Itself
The mouse I've received at first was faulty, the firmware was bugged and wouldn't allow the mouse to stay connected for more than 5 seconds before shutting down and restarting itself on a endless cycle of frustration. I've returned the product and got another in hopes that it would work. In short it did, it worked really well in fact. The comfort, accuracy, scrolling, and the general weight are all quite good for the mouse, for some it may be a bit much but I find it to be alright. As stated before, it works well with a cable, without the polling rate of the mouse is a bit poor, but that is to be expected for something that is 'low power' by design, and it seem to fit that 3 months quite well, if not longer for my use-age thus far. This is not a gaming mouse but rather a mouse to get the work done with high flexibility, each key is customizable, the sensor works good on glass surfaces, and the general glide across each surface seems to be consistent, its a good mouse to handle. Personally I would have given this 5 stars, but the frustrations with the faulty mouse had lead me to believe that there are still issues to be sorted out, the issue I have is still a common one that isn't resolved, and for how long this mouse has been around, it should have been resolved ages ago. Hopefully Microsoft can sort that matter out in the future, instead of sweeping it under the rug like they did with the Surface Book issues, or the Microsoft Duo series. Good ideas, but I'd say they need a test group that can daily drive the products prior to releasing them into the wild. Another is repairablility, I can see in the future that getting parts, pads, and fixing this mouse in the future is going to be difficult, it is a common trend with Microsoft, but it seems with their recent release of the Surface Laptop 4 and beyond series, they have made it more serviceable, which is a massive improvement, hopefully that also work it's way down the pipeline instead of stopping there. I know this product has been around for awhile now and they have released other mice for less, but for a product to cost so much and have caused so much issue, just annoys me. Its like Microsoft had went 7/10ths the way there, and drop 3/10ths of it, almost there, but not quite.

I'm so in love with this mouse
Rami James, [09/03/2024 21:57] I want you all to know that I've been on a journey of a sorts. I've gone through like ten mice over the past 18 months. None of them fit my hand right, felt nice on the table, had a nice tactile click, had a good scroller, etc. There was always something wrong with each mouse that I've bought in the past. Many of them were super expensive mice. But finally, i found the right one. This one. It's like slipping into the highest quality bed, newly made up, clean and cool and perfect. This mouse is perfect in every way. It's exactly the right size, has the smoothest table slide, absolutely nails the cursor feel, awesome click, and it has the craziest mouse wheel feature It has this button right above it that switches from a mechanical click-click-click when you scroll to a buttery smooth slide. There's a tiny motor in there that is engaging something and it makes the most satisfying clunk when it the click-click-click mechanical state is set. I'm so in love with this mouse

Best mouse I've ever owned
I am a big fan of the surface mouse line up. I used the regular mouse for about two years, until I accidentally dropped it from my standing desk and broke the wheel. Great basic mouse, reliable battery and cheap enough. Precision mouse is an upgrade in every way from the classic surface mouse, build quality is better, its more comfortable, and the added functionality is just cherry on top. I really like the looks of this mouse, its feature packed and large but the design fades in the background with its simplicity. This is exactly what I wanted from a mouse, and the main factor over a gaming mouse which are usually in the same price point and have similar features but often look too distracting.

Great Bluetooth companion mouse for Microsoft Surface products
I've never enjoyed a mouse this much. To be fair it's about 2x-3x as expensive as any mouse I've ever owned so from a value proposition I'd say it's worth it, but not a bargain. I was really looking for a solid bluetooth mouse for my Surface Book 2 and was on the fence between this and the Logitech MX series, ultimately deciding on this one because I've had such positive experiences with Microsofts Intellimouse series in the past that have lasted me a decade+. This is obviously a premium product as the price commands and the heft and build quality reflect that. I have a logitech G602 that feels like a plastic toy compared to this thing, though they both perform equally well as mice. I have not had any issues with pairing, this mouse pairs faster to my SB2 than just about any other bluetooth accessory I own. Changing between the smooth and click scroll wheel is a godsend I wish all mice had and the only thing I would change about it is the ability to reprogram the three buttons to make the middle one "back" as it feels more natural in placement and is more practical than the app switching button. Works great on my Galaxy Note 8 as well! Would buy again without hesitation knowing what I know now.

This baby arrived just in time
I've known for some time that my old Microsoft mouse was dying. It either didn't register a click or registered a double click. This wasn't really an issue until I started working from home 2 weeks ago. I never realized just how much I used my mouse for work! Anyway, I ordered this the other night. This afternoon, I finally had, I almost through my old mouse across the room. But amazon was at the door this afternoon. Opened up the box, pulled the mouse out, and plugged it in, and it came up right away. I like how the buttons are programable, and can even act differently for a specific application. The mouse itself is very comfortable. It has a well balanced weight and feel to it. There is even a switch on it to have a smooth scroll wheel, or click feel when you scroll. It can also be paired for up to three different devices. I don't know how full the battery was, but it was fully charged in an hour or so. The Bluetooth works great. My only concern is, Bluetooth devices will not work in bios, but I got a touch screen so no big deal. I have only 2 cons that I can say about it. The usb cable is a micro usb and not usb c. The second thing is, the usb cable is very short. One of the shortest cables I've ever seen for a mouse. This is meant to be used wirelessly.
