Trick, an early album from the prodigious Philadelphian singer-songwriter Alex G, is now back in stock on vinyl. Alex's fourth album was originally self-released digitally on his Bandcamp, but received the physical attention it deserved following the release of his breakthrough fifth album DSU, remastered and issued on vinyl in 2015 for the first time. With three more original albums released since, Alex's cult-like fanbase, which includes the likes of Frank Ocean, only ever increases, and Trick remains a firm favourites as more fans discover his prolific back catalogue. Songs like "Sarah", "Advice" and "Change" are soaked in the distinctive personality of Alex G, displaying a serious knack for melodic songwriting underneath unconventional guitar lines and scrawls of fuzz. These early records only reaffirm that Alex G is one of the most distinctive American musicians today. Review: this is what I'd recommend as an introductory album to Alex G - pretty good record and the fact that comes with a 45 makes it even more of a collectors item. The songs are haunting yet familiar... our group listening to Sonic Youth so this is not grunge on most songs. It's kinda like a nine out of 10 acoustic then you got that one heavy one. This vinyl is amazing. I love this album. Honestly, if you don't like all the songs on this, maybe only a few of the more 'popular' ones like Change, or Advice, I still think this album is worth getting. You'll definitely warm up to and appreciate the other songs even if you don't enjoy them AS much. (This is my experience lol.) The sleeve is alright, the album cover, yadda yadda, and then after that is another lil packaged thingie inside honestly this is my first VINYL so idk what its called but it's cool and has cool art thing on it I guess its Alex G related -- and in that one is the album vinyl, it's one of the bigger records, like you know. The ones you think of when you think of old big vintage records. Or whatever. Then there's a smaller one with the three 'bonus' songs on it. Adam and 16 Mirrors are on one side of this lil baby vinyl (what I've decided to call the small one..) and then Sarah on the other other side. The big vinyl by the way, it has a pretty uhh sunset picture in the middle with the uhhhh birds uhhhh must be an Alex G reference! (I'm a fake fan.) (And so are you.) (just kidding :3) Honestly, please look up worth while record players tho. Don't be like me and go to the closest store and just buy the cheapest one because they said its refurbished and stuff even though its still not so great. . . . DO YOUR RESEARCH ON THE PLAYER. SAVE UP FOR A DECENT ONE OR ELSE YOU'LL END UP LIKE ME SOBBING AND CRYING AND CURLED UP ON THE FLOOR AFTER WATCHING THE TUTORIAL ON HOW TO USE YOUR RECORD PLAYER AND READING THE COMMENTS TO SEE EVERYONE BASHING IT AND SAYING YOURE BASICALLY DOOMED AND THE STUPIDEST PERSON EVER FOR BUYING IT AND YOURE TARNISHING THE TRUE SOUND OF THE VINYL WITH A CHEAP TOY. awesum album :3 i luv it, so awesummmm and kawaiiidesureeeeeereeere so please get ittttt amazing 1st vinyllllll in my uneducated opinion. I am not an audiophile.
