Well constructed, sturdy. I anticipate it will prove useful for its intended purpose, as a tool to augment my knife system.

The fireROD XL is awesome it throws a nice shower of sparks and the o-ring sealed tinder box/handle is awesome and has room for a little bit more if you feel the need. If you wear it out you can order a replacement rod and not have to buy the whole thing again which is awesome. I would like to build one like it that holds a 1/2" magnesium rod so I kind of have a matching set. Even the paracord for the lanyard has a red wax coated tinder inside of it for more tinder options and the duck tape can be ripped into strips for tinder or used to patch a rip id give this firerod a 9/10 I think only thing I'd change is putting beads on the lanyard for use as ranger beads/pace counting.

Nice size rod and handle. I like having a little storage, and the tape.

This is not cheap! And for a tool I might have to use to keep me slive i don’t want it to be! The quality Exptec puts into their products is unparalleled!

It works but so dose the $5 one that is the same size… it is a fancy handle and a nice large diameter on a long rod that throws a lot of sparks and it has storage for a Cotten ball in the handle… but as I said the $5 one dose the same thing just with out the handle

Are you kidding me? Sixty-five dollars for something you can get for less than 10? LOL....it literally says "A waterproof striker." All you need to strike the rod, is the back side, in other words, the dull side, of a knife blade. You could probably get it done with a screwdriver if you knew what you were doing..... Is a knife, or a screwdriver waterproof? In the case of this......yes...... LMAO.... Do not pay 65 dollars for this..... There is literally ZERO reason to pay that amount of money for this.. "Made in the USA."........ooooohhh! Yeah....that's still not a reason to get f-d over that much......
