Bought this as a birthday gift for my climbing-obsessed friend, and it was an instant hit! Last minute gift for a climber-he loves it. Mug size allows for a generous cup of coffee (tea, hot chocolate, etc) and the grip (identical to what you find on climbing walls) creates a unique experience.

The grips are just grippy enough that pretty much anyone who is starting climbing could use it comfortably, but it does still build up bits of finger strength. Try this: hold your phone without resting it on your pinky, with a thumb on the screen and four fingers in back. That’s about how much finger strength it takes to hold up this cup, even full. The rock grip is nicely shaped for this purpose, with a gritty texture that helps the hold. The ceramic portion is ever so slightly curved in a really elegant and visually satisfying way. And the curve is comfortable to drink out of. Overall the whole thing is nicer than I had expected. The only drawback is the lack of dishwasher support, but rinsing a mug isn’t hard.

A fun, good quality gift for someone who does wall climbing

Bought this gift for a friend who's big into rock climbing. They really liked it as a gift...but they did lose their grip on it and poured scalding water on themself once. Luckily they were fine. I guess it's part of the incentive to get good at crimping.
