Z Athletic Kids Balance Beam and Cartwheel Trainer Folding Mat for Gymnastics and Tumbling

My toddler loves it and it has the handprints just like her mat at gymnastics. We have had it several months now and it has held up from being a tumbling mat and a pretend tent (haha).

VERY STRONG SMELL THAT TAKES SEVERAL WEEKS TO DISSIPATE!!! However, once/if you get past that this is an amazing product and leaves my kids having hours of safe gynmastic fun! I love the versatility of the balance beam side as well as the outlines to encourage the cartwheel! Kids are thrilled and the smell, while strong, never seemed to bother them. We've had the product since mid May and I only this week (early July) realized I no longer smell the mat when I enter the room where is is used.

My daughter was having a hard time learning to do a cartwheel. I got her this mat and she got the cartwheel down in two days. The pink color is perfect for my daughter and the size is great since we can move it to different rooms easily and store it. It is super easy to fold and my daughter can put it away. The matting is very cushioned so she does not hurt herself.

Odor of this product out of packaging is very strong as stated in description. When we opened it we set it outside for a couple of days (covered porch) and did a wipe down, which really helped reduce odor. We did not purchase this item for gymnastics purposes. We have a senior disabled dog who is mostly blind that kept trying to jump into the mirror glass closet doors and we feared he would eventually hurt himself, so we purchased this mat and set it upright in front of closet, to protect him and closet. Yes, he has jumped into the mat a few times, but thankfully has not hurt himself at all. So, we are unsure if this item would be good for children's gymnastics, but we can say it is FANTASTIC at helping protect a senior disabled dog.

My main concern before ordering was that I could not visualize the size. I've attached a photo for comparison. I am 5' 1'". Use this mat for children up to 3/4 of my own height. Any taller, and they will need to position their feet to start off the mat, land hands on mat, and then finish off mat. In that case, the printed feet still help the taller girls position their feet off the mat. Secondary concern was reading another person's review on that it was too squishy it was dangerous to use. I disagree. I use this mat to help teach little ones who are terrified of tumbling, not for regular tumbling use. The extra softness encourages them to actually try because it is softer than the other mats! I would recommend to put this on top of additional mats since the cartwheel mat is so narrow. Tumble straight or die :P Overall, still glad I purchased it! Two girls have gotten their cartwheels because of this mat and several more are very close to overcoming their fear!

Wish it was a little thicker but we LOVE this--it was worth the money. The guiding hands/feet helped my 6 year old get the concept of a cartwheel better---the flip side mimics a balance beam and basically serves as a visual reminder to try to stay along the line for my older daughter who can do cartwheels with a roundoff and little jump at the end {I forget what she calls it} anyways, my kids have used this for HOURS to practice for their Acrobatics class. If you need serious hard-core for a gymnastics enthusiasts, then perhaps might want to get one that is wider and thicker. Other posters mention a smell--and a sticky residue? There was a slight smell of factory-plastic smell but it wasn't horrible and dissipated within a day---I just put it outside for a bit and aired it out--There was no stickiness to it and overall I would buy this mat again and I do recommend it to other moms who's children want to practice on a softer than the floor or ground---but a serious gymnast would need something more heavy duty. this fits nicely under my kids twin bed by the way and does stand horizontally along a wall if you choose to store it that way.
