I loved the way this showed God as Papa,(Played by Octavia Spencer - The Help),lovely gentle way of portraying God, was so liberating for me after my serious Catholic Upbringing, the God I knew then was really hard and terrifying as a child back in the 1950's. Papa is gentle and full of wisdom and love ,and so approachable too, The Holy Spirit and Jesus, a nowadays carpenter has you enthralled as the story develops. Its about Mac's journey through loss, pain, hope and forgiveness. Something I and many I know can identify with. This is a DVD that is full of healing and wisdom. I have shared it with my chapel and as fast as I order new copies, (Bless desertcart Prime for keeping up the deliveries for me), they fly in different directions, as peoples lives are being changed for the better, its great also for study groups as it helps us to discuss issues that are often buried deep in the past. It has liberated me and so many of my friends in just a few weeks. The Shack DVD is a gift we can give to ourselves and each other, and is truly a life changer. Ava.......

A life changing DVD, I pre-ordered this, as I had read The Shack book a couple of years ago. It's certainly different
This movie starts out very good and while it's a not a bad movie at all, it does drag things out a bit; the movie is dealing with a very traumatic situation where neither parent is to blame and that's a very good premise I think. For some viewers it's possible that the topic of forgiveness is too much to deal with but essentially this movie is about forgiveness and christianity; it forces you to look at the perpetrator as someone to be forgiven which is hard; it's not a harsh movie, it may be a little bit too 'sweet' for some but I think that what may jar viewers is the lack of violence and revenge. It's good to see things from this perspective but be warned, this is not an action movie, this is a deep thought and christian movie.

Brilliant
A brilliant movie with strong biblical teaching such as judgement & forgiveness Note: watch the beginning carefully as it gives reasoning as to why God The Father appears as a Octavia Spencer; like take with a pinch of salt but understand the context they use & why I also find that used an actor who appears to be of Middle Eastern descent to portray Jesus is fitting given that the real Jesus was born into the world in 1st Century Israel with likely olive skin

Together with The Passion, this is a MUST watch film.
What a film ! If you haven't seen it, then see it soon. The film hits hard and doesn't shy away from hard questions around forgiveness.
