Comfortable, versatile travel pack that makes longer trips much easier to manage
The Osprey Fairview 55L is a well-designed travel backpack that balances capacity, comfort, and organization. The main pack holds a surprising amount without feeling overly bulky, and the included detachable daypack is extremely useful for short outings, airport essentials, or daily exploring once you reach your destination. The clamshell-style opening makes packing and unpacking much easier compared to traditional top-loading backpacks. Comfort is where this pack really stands out. The harness and hip belt distribute weight well, making it comfortable to carry even when fully loaded. The adjustable torso system helps dial in the fit, and once adjusted properly, it feels stable and supportive while walking through airports or cities. Materials and zippers feel durable and built for frequent travel. For best results, taking a few minutes to properly adjust the torso length and hip belt makes a big difference in long-term comfort. Using packing cubes also helps maximize space and keeps everything organized inside the main compartment. Overall, this is a reliable and thoughtfully designed travel backpack that works especially well for extended trips or one-bag travel.

Very well made
Pros :I used this for luggage on a trip around the UK. I only took this piece of luggage for a 2 month trip. I took a lot of lightweight clothes, 3 dresses, 3 skirts, swimsuit, six cotton shirts, underwear and pjs and a small light towel. Cosmetics and bar shampoos and flipflops It is roomy and very well built. It fits in the overhead of large aircraft and under the seat of smaller ones. It is sooo comfortable to carry, seems to disburse the weight well, even for an older person (58). Very easy to carry. Cons: once packed I could not fit a water bottle or anything in the front outside pocket, it is too tight so that pocket is a waste. You cannot really use packing cubes, they take too much room. The best way to pack is to roll your clothes. I would have liked a proper zipped outside pouch. Other than that I love it.

Great back pack! Highly recommend
I am so so happy with this back pack. I did a lot of research looking for a back pack that I could take to Europe for a 2 week trip. I didnt want to take a roller suitcase as we had quite a few train trips that we needed to take between cities. This back pack has turned out to be everything I needed. Its very comfortable to carry (20+ min walks) and even packed full it doesn't feel heavy at all. We packed fairly light for our trip (washing clothes as we travel) but it really fit everything I needed plus some room for souvenirs. The clip system inside was definitely a plus to help keep all the clothes compact. I would recommend this back pack to anyone traveling that wants something easy and light weight, no issues as a carry on either in a very full plane.

It was perfect for our Europe Travels
My husband and I went back and forth on using this backpack during our travels in Europe or sticking with roller bags. We are so happy we bought these backpacks! I loved using this throughout our trip. I was able to fit a lot more than I thought I would in it and we were very happy to have the backpacks whenever we had to climb stairs or were in a rush to catch a train. Pros: Lightweight (when empty) Durable Fits more than you think (Especially if you use packing cubes) Opens like a suitcase Two zipper pockets in the main compartment Detached smaller backpack is great for use throughout the day and fits more than you think! The straps inside the bag really do compact the inside Cons: It is a bit heavy on the shoulders after everything is packed which makes it a little uncomfortable but as someone who doesn't backpack all the time, I expected that. I wore the main backpack on my shoulders and then wore the smaller one on my front or carried it by the handle because it was too bulky/heavy to wear altogether on my back. Other notes: We were able to fit water bottles on the side of the smaller backpack but I will say they can fall out if you are turning the backpack upside down. Right before getting on a plane or when we were traveling by train we often zipped up the shoulder straps on the large bags and carried them by their side hand holder to be able to easily store it in the above compartments and that worked out perfectly for being efficient. I hope this helps with the decision making!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Excellent Build Quality & Thoughtful Design — Very Impressed So Far
Even before traveling with it, I’m genuinely impressed with the Osprey Fairview 55L based on its build quality, design, and overall feel. Right out of the box, the materials and craftsmanship stand out. The fabric feels durable but not stiff, the zippers are smooth and heavy-duty, and everything feels extremely well constructed. This is clearly a high-quality pack that’s been designed to last. The layout and organization are very intuitive. The main compartment opens like a suitcase, which makes packing and accessing items feel straightforward and organized. The internal pockets and compression straps are well placed and thoughtfully designed — you can tell a lot of care went into how this bag functions. Nothing feels unnecessary or poorly planned. The harness system and hip belt are also impressive. Even just trying it on while loaded with some weight, it feels supportive and comfortable, with adjustable straps that allow for a really solid, personalized fit. The suspension system feels sturdy and well engineered, not flimsy or overly rigid. Overall, the Fairview 55L gives off a strong sense of reliability and smart design. Even without having traveled with it yet, it’s clear this backpack is built with intention, quality materials, and attention to detail. I feel confident in the purchase and can already tell it’s going to be a great long-term investment.

Like the Tardis! Great pack, carries more than you can lift (almost)!
Extraordinarily roomy, I bought this for a 2+ week trip overseas where I didn't want to have to check bags. This was the 'extra' personal item for 2 of us. It initially was for all our electronics (ipads, chargers, headphones), books, my purse, miscellaneous travel luxuries (travel soaps, tide packets, etc.), items for immediate access (sunglasses, wallets), and critical paperwork (passports, printed maps and hotel info). We were moving from place to place starting in Ireland, flying to Germany, driving from west to east and ending up in Vienna, so we stayed in a lot of hotels and had a car with a small-ish trunk (2 seat convertible). This meant it was tossed around and carried EVERYWHERE. When our little suitcases were at capacity (was cold in Ireland so we bought big bulky sweaters because Germany was HOT and we weren't prepared for the cold), we started shoving all the souvenirs into this one. Many were VERY fragile. This thing just kept swallowing more an more. I am convinced it could actually hold more than our roller bags. While the carrying features such as the side zipper where we stored paperwork, the small pocket on the top for wallets and sunglasses, and the 'packable' hip belt and shoulder harness with a hard back were brilliant and made it easy to haul around what was now a VERY heavy backpack, there were some areas that I found more and more irritating as we went on and are the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars: - Other than the small pocket at the top, there were NO zippered pockets anywhere inside or outside. This meant that small items we wanted to separate to avoid getting lost due to accidentally falling out when opening, or due to their value had to go into the suitcase. Opening the entire pack was unavoidable and because of the soft nature, everything we had shoved in there would start spilling out. This meant the little pocket on top was maxed out very quickly. - While the zippered 'cover' to store the harness and belt were great when closed, you have to roll it up and shove it down as far as it would go to keep it from hanging out when open. It didn't really come out when you do this, but it seemed a lazy way to do this. Probably standard, and it worked, so maybe it's just me. - Me personally, I would have liked to be able to keep the belt stored away and just have the shoulder harnesses out for use because the belt got in the way much more than it helped. Maybe if the zippered part would let you do this and keep the belt partially sealed up, but it didn't seem designed to do that. Maybe if we had gone up a size, they would have had amenities to accommodate some of the issues I brought up, but the next size was just too big. This one was already larger than anticipated. This was ultimately a good thing for us, but any larger would have been much too heavy once packed full as this one almost was. This would be a great pack if you only want one item that can be carried wherever you need as it is large enough and juuuust fits under the seat (you will have to put your feet on it), but it is larger than you might expect as a regular 'personal' carryon item. Also beware that there is only the one additional zippered pocket and there are none inside (not counting the side zipper access for very thin items). Also, I LOVE this color!

Took this with me on a 2 month southeast asia trip
Amazing backpack. I took this with me on a trip to Southeast Asia for 2 months. Great if you want to travel on the lighter side yet spacious enough for all your essentials. Just the right size to qualify as a carry on as well, which is perfect if you will be flying a lot and on the go - no waiting at terminals for your luggage. Has a comfortable waist band with good support to take the weight off your shoulders, and also has a chest clip for extra stability. The color is also beautiful and vibrant. Highly recommend

Awesome bag for international travel.
I purchased the 55L set for my Taiwan trip and used it with the compression pack—absolutely loved it. The only drawback is the side pocket on the mini: it’s not very secure. A heavy water bottle or small items can slip out. My AirPods even slipped out during a turbulent flight while the bag was stored under the seat—my fault for forgetting they were there, but still something to note. Lesson learned and moved on. Overall, the bag served me incredibly well as I navigated long stretches of public transportation throughout Taiwan. The flexible backpack material let me pack more than I could with a typical hard-shell carry-on, and the hip support was amazing. I preferred hooking the mini on the front for better balance. I also used the mini while exploring the cities—it comfortably held all my day-trip essentials. I’ll be using the hardshell roller luggage a bit less now.
