Tip:To optimize the lifespan of the UV light used for screen printing, it is advisable to periodically turn off the switch and allow the lamp to cool for a few minutes before resuming operation.

What exposure time/distance would you recommend for an 18x20 frame with diazo emulsion?

How long did you expose your screen for? I see reviews talking about 8min and others talk about 10 seconds. Very confusing

It's going to be based off the emulsion you use. I mainly use ecotex and it has a UV recommended time. Generally 10-15 seconds. Make sure you have something dark underneath the screen when exposing to prevent over exposure. I use black felt from Hobby Lobby.

Is the item is safe ? does it overheat ? is it durable ?

Excellent value, gets the job done!

Extremely well priced. It's not the most amazing build quality, but I don't think you need it to be if you're just exposing some screens casually as a DIY screen printer. It exposed at 16"x16" design at 12" away for 12 seconds and the art turned out great. I could have used even less time for the exposure. Saves a lot of time over a BBA Photoflood incandescent bulb. This is a great upgrade.

Quick exposure for screen printing

Seems to work well. The clamp doesn't really hold on very well but can make it work or modify.Exposure time for Ecotex PWR(water based ink emulsion) on white 230 mesh was <2 seconds, 14" from the screen.

Nice light source

Once it’s set up it’s a neat set up. Works perfectly.Instructions to use need to be better. I had to do a lot of trial and error

Good but flawed

The light works great, but upon opening, the plastic holder for the lamp was broken, and that piece is cheaply made; it's not like I broke it; it was when I unboxed it. No exchange if available. I wish this were sturdier; I feel that even if it would have been fine, this would have broken later.

works great for cyanotype

i was able to get good and consistent exposures for cyanotype printing with this light. it has a switch on the cord to turn on and off the light. i would recommend creating a sort of makeshift stand from a cardboard box. i think this light works great and will continue to use in the future.

Cheap junk

The attachment point between the arm and the light panel is literally and expandable cell phone holder. It will not and does not positively fit the frame of the light panel. It cannot support the weight of the light panel at any angle. This will be returned.

Works well

I used this lamp to brighten some age yellowed plastic parts with hair developer that I could not remove to put out in the sun. This did the trick!
